4wd is making some weird grinding sound in both part time and full time. I had the same control of the car as if i didnt have it on. Last year my 4wd was amazing, i never had a problem driving up or down hills. 4wd was so good that my dad even acknowledged that my jeep was better than his 2010 wrangler in the snow. Anyway is it possible this could be related to my rusty bushing problem or is it something worse??

Possibly the front drive shaft. Check the CV Joint. I currently have no 4x4 due to this. I pulled the shaft out (really easy, might take a bit of muscle but it'll go) and just haven't gotten the new CV joint yet

Jeep Front Driveshaft CV Joint Kit: Driveshaft Parts

i think im just better off lifting it and getting new parts like the cv joint, bushings, the arm thing, the ball joints and probably some other parts. most of the truck is 10 years old so instead of fixing it again and again i can just do it all in one go.

The driveshaft/CV joint really has no barring on a lift or no lift though. I guess the lift would work in the sense that it would make it easier to get under there to get to the piece as you wouldn't need to jack anything up.

I can relate to wanting a shop to do the lift. That is what I had to do since at the time I was living in an apartment with little tools.

As far as the front drive shaft issue that's too easy to fork out several hundred for a shop to do. Seriously, I have no mechanic skills at all and I was able to do it while parked out in in the middle of no-where at night while fishing and holding a tiny flashlight in my mouth the entire time.

Well yeah, if that is the issue you would want to get a new CV joint. Would take about 20 minutes of your time( (like 8 bolts I think) and you'd be back in 4x4 mode whenever you want (if that is the problem which it sounds like it is).

i know its a simple fix but what im trying to say is i have run into several problems with the suspension this week so maybe i should just replace most of it in order to prevent a headache down the line.
