At highway speeds (65-70 mph) and about 2100-2200 rpm, the torque converter feels like it momentarily will unlock and then lock. It happens fast, no change in rpm noticed on the tach. It typically happens on a long gradual up hill. Only happens once or twice a day on my 130 mile daily commute. No check engine light and no pending codes when checked with scanner. Here is what I have done so far:
1. Dropped the pan and changed the filters. Fluid looked good when it was changed.
2. When that didn't fix it I changed out another 8 quarts of fluid by pulling the hot cooler line off and pumping 2 quarts at a time out and refilling with new fluid.
3. Changed the TPS with a MOPAR unit. This did fix a problem where the RPMs would jump 200-300 higher periodically. It has been about 1200 miles since this was changed.
Looking at the FSM I am thinking it might be the input speed sensor since it is one of the inputs to the Electronically Modulated Converter Clutch (EMCC) as well as Shift lever position, current gear range, fluid temp and engine coolant temp.
Any thoughts?
