2006 Jeep Liberty No EGR installed???

I recently got this 2006 Liberty CRD from eBay... BIG MISTAKE!!!
Anyway, I took it for smog test and it failed with P0610, P0401, P0299. I took it to a mechanic and he could not find the EGR system installed on the engine. He also said that the emission diagram does not show an EGR.
I sent him the pages from the Shop Manual but still he could not find it.
Is it possible that some 2006 Liberty would not have it? Then what about the code?

It's very possible that the PO removed the EGR valve but it's more likely that it's bad and you have a split CAC hose as well. The valve is located on the DS of the engine. Remove the filter headm CAC hose FVC, batt an batt tray to access it "easily". The part is like $150 the hose that's split is around $200 and the labor bill is a killer. Best fix it yourself to save the $.
