I just bought a very nice Limited that was in a minor accident. Dash lights come on but the car will not turn the starter. In fact there isn't even a click when the key is turned. Just bought a New battery. It does have SKIM system. I was thinking maybe it is the actuator as stated in another forum.

"?" is does anyone know if the immobilizer could have been activated during the accident. and is it a replace - or can they be reset.

Also have a good code scanner - but it gets a communications error and keeps asking me to turn the key to on.

Lots of areas - SKIM - PCM - Actuator.

ANy ideas would be very much appreciated.

Welcome to forum.

Have you tried starting the jeep with the transmission in Neutral?

I'm not sure about an immobilizer. My wifes 2002 Liberty hit a Guard Rail a few years back and I think the jeep did shut off from the impact but I did drive it home for her that night. She slid out on black ice and whole front bumper made contact with the rail while sliding side ways.

yup - pretty much the same here - but ours hit a post -very little damage

I replaced the ignition actuator and the switch - still the same. The fuses 8 in engine compartment and 33 are both good. Did find a place in TX that will reset and update my PCM for $170 - and they will disable the SKIS system.

My wife's bumper had few good scratches and the front plate adapter ripped off but that was it. she slid in such away that the whole surface of the bumper made contact the guard rail while going side ways. Saved her from going over the rail and and real damage the jeep.

Good luck to ya. hopefully you get your KJ up and running. Keep us posted.
