Just bought a 03 Liberty renegade.

Bought it during the day and didn’t think to check interior lights, but now that I’ve driven it in the dark I’ve realized they are not working.

I messaged the previous owner and she said that she “unplugged them” to be “stealth” but doesn’t remember how.

I don’t believe it is a fuse because the sun visor lights still work, and the odometer still lights up when I open the doors.

If anyone knows how she may have disabled them I’d really appreciate it.

Photo of the jeep just for fun :)

Welcome to the forums.
Something does not sound right here. I have no idea why would someone do this.. :(
With our Jeep, If you turn dimmer all the way down, it turns off all the interior lights.
If you turn dimmer all the way up, all interior lights should be on.
I would want to inquire more about what she unplugged, was it a connector, harness wiring, or did a shop do this?
Best of luck: Bill our electrical specialist may be a ble to help with further wiring assistance.
Here is the 2003 Factory Service manual, also has wiring diagrams. http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/2003JeepKJServiceManual.pdf

Yes. I asked her and she said she “thinks a wire”. I will take a look at the wiring you just sent me tonight after work.

Do you think it’s possible she could have undone a connector right at the bulb?

In wiring situations like this, I do not like to speculate. At the moment, I do not have time to investigate the wiring schematic.
For all I know, she could have removed the bulb or cut the positive wire at each interior bulb.
It's going to be a matter of looking at schematic, then inspections.
When I get some time in the next day, I may have more info for you. Hang in there..

Check all the fuses, but if fuse 34 was out there wouldn't be power to map lights.
It is possible that interior bulbs could have been removed & or possibly wires cut.
I have invited Bill our electrical specialist to view the attached schematics, to best help in this situation.
