hey guys, iv noticed on my transfer case it has been sweating oil out of the seam right where the case splits, but now it is leaking. Is there a gasket there? or just gasket maker/silicone?
and do i need to take the Tcase out to pull it apart or can i do it in vehicle?
thanks!

I think it is just rtv, no gasket. Here is a thread on this site with a similar issue

Looks like if it's the split seal it's best to drop the transfer case to do it right. Maybe someone can help that has actually done one. I know my transfer case "sweats" as they call it. I just check the fluid. Not really that bad, will look into it if it gets worse. Someone on here said they just cleaned it and put rtv on the outside of the seam lol it's a bandaid, but I've had bandaids hold for a long time

Considering its not pressurized a good cleaning and some duct tape will fix it right up........

If you want to the problem to go away for every just put some waterproof epoxy on the spots where it is leaking.
