Question -

Bought a used 2002 Jeep Liberty last year, and (yeah I know stupid) noticed after I bought it cash, that the tail lights and dash cluster does not work.

Anyone else have this issue? or a solution? At my whits end. Took it to a electrical auto place here in SC, where they had it for two weeks and gave it back to me, free of charge as they could not locate the issue. They did say they were able to get power to the tail lights, each individual side. They "said" they replaced the PCM/ECM? from a junk yard, AND the light switch stick on steering column, but it "wasn't that" so they took the parts back out. What do I do? Buy all new modules and try myself?? Maybe their parts were bad? I am really struggling here....need a reliable vehicle and have to drive at night. Any help greatly appreciated.

Start simple, check the fuses.

Thanks...however way past that. Checked the usual fuses on rocker panel by drivers door, bulbs, etc......As I said in first post, it was at a auto electrical shop for over a week and they couldn't figure it out either....

How did they power the tail lights individually? Have you tested the fuse block for power to these fuses?

The way I’d approach this is to start with fuses then move on to wiring, I am used to working on older cars so I don’t think about body control modules or PCMs.
I’d go back to the battery and work forward, checking fuses boxes and major plugs along the way, like bulk heads or where harnesses connect to each other.

My guess is the taillights have a small harness that plugs into the main body harness and the shop unplugged it to put power through it.

Without knowing if there is a BCM or PCM that directly affect those lights, I’d assume there is a break in the harness or a bad fuse box somewhere in the line.
I’d be looking for signed of a repaired damage from a wreck or signs of animals where the harness could have been cut.

I’m not a KJ expert so maybe somebody here will know a common cause or more likely problem, however if this were a XJ or MJ this is how I’d look.
