Thanks guys, I'll try the door local.unlock button on the door and see if that works. Im sure i've already tried it though and it didn't seem to do anything to the tailgate. I'll try again tonight for sure though.

As far as i know the Jeep is a stock standard show room affair. Im don't know much about Jeeps so you'll have to excuse my ignorance. Was the trac lock limited slip diff possibly a factory fitted item? I wouldn't have thought so.
