Pretty sure my starter went bad

After getting the chance to actually get under the hood and work with it, I found that it is the battery. I havent had the chance to get to the parts store yet, but I'll be buying a new battery. I was going to take the battery out of the TJ, and when I went to do that, found that the...

Pretty sure my starter went bad

as far as replacing the starter? Do I have to remove or disconnect anything to get to the starter? or is it a matter of removing the screws and disconnecting it, and replacing like some that I've done in the past?

Pretty sure my starter went bad

The battery was my original thought, because I know they tend to only last 5 years or so, and the car was purchased new in April of 2004. Would the battery light not show up if it went bad? All of the other lights came on, they seemed a little dim, but there's obviously still some juice in...

Pretty sure my starter went bad

I have an 04 KJ and when trying to start it tonight, it made a fast ticking noise. The lights seemed dim, but the battery light was not on(it does light during the initial light test.) Needless to say, I connected the jumper cables to our TJ and let it run for about 5 minutes. Same thing...

    K&N vs. Airaid

The Filter came about a week after going from the 215/75/R16 tires to the 235/70/R16's and it made up for the MPG's I lost with increasing the tire size. Wasnt much, maybe 2 or 3 mpg's.

    K&N vs. Airaid

I'm using K&N works great, as I expected. I've put K&N in every car I've owned except my Cadillac STS because they didnt make one for that car. Had to use a Fram Air Hog.

What is green that could be leaking from my KJ?

I just did a brake job on a JK that had blown seals on the rear axle, and leaking dif fluid into the brake housing. It was a dark green after being mixed with brake dust, and sand. Have you checked the axle seals to see if they are clean? This JK has been submerged in water above the axles...

What is green that could be leaking from my KJ?

What about grease from the drive shaft? I've seen greases in varying shades from yellows to greens to blues. Grease would explain seeing the spots only when the snow comes in contact with the components. Just a thought, I'm no mechanic by any means.

2004 Jeep Treble - FUNNY STORY!

I told them 5qts of Mobil 1 Synthetic anyway and to not mess with the air filter since it's a K&N. it went fine, but I can imagine their frustration when they were trying to actually enter it into the system. The paperwork I received was handwritten. It was still fun.

    what is this lever?

I believe that's the piece that pushes the glass outward when the latch releases. Either when you press the open-glass button on the Key Fob, or when you pull the handle on the gate.

2004 Jeep Treble - FUNNY STORY!

I've never been a fan of seeing other people driving the exact same car as me. That being said, I purchased my 2004 KJ in September of 2007, and although the options on my car are a rare combination, I've still seen a few that are equipped simillarly. I started a business a few months ago...

    transponder keys

they should work, but the dealers would probably have to do some programming to make the key match the ignition.

    Quick Question...re: Front End

check the alignment. Mine was doing that, but after I got the alignment done, it stopped. When I got my tires, they put the car on the rack and if it didn't need an alignment, they dont charge you for it. If you know anyone at a tire place, see if they can put it up on the rack and just check...

    Kinda squirmy on snow

I had the Wrangler ST 215/75/16's on mine, and they were close to bald, barely legal. 4WD gave me great traction starting, but only in straight lines, I had a hard time keeping it going straight, and couldnt turn for the life of me. I just put Bridgestone Dueler APT 235/70/16's on and noticed...

Got my '04 in Late August '07 at 38,000 Miles. I'm at 44,000 now, but I drove down to Tampa from Columbus over Thanksgiving and have been on a few snowboarding trips out of state since then, so it adds up pretty quickly. I'll probably be driving the wife's Wrangler a lot more over the summer...

Groaning nosie at low speed turn?

This may sound dumb, but you're not driving with 4-HI on constantly are you? Before I got mine, my wife(girlfriend then) would drive her Wrangler with 4-HI(Part Time) on constantlyduring the winter, even if it was dry out. It would groan at low speed tight turns, and sometimes crow-hop. I...

How did you first find your KJ?

I bought my 2004 Liberty in September of 2007 with 38,000 miles for $8000. Here's The Story... In April of 2004, my mom traded her 2001 Mazda Miata for the Liberty. I was at school at the time, and when they told me, I rolled my eyes. I didn't like the way the Liberty looked, and was...

What did you sell or trade to get your KJ?

97 Plymouth Neon. The '04 Libby was my mother's(babied) and she wanted to downsize. She purchased it in 2004 when Jeep ran their 0% financing. She recently bought a Honda Fit, and I traded my Neon in towards her Fit, then she sold me the Libby with 38K miles on it for payoff($8K) I just put...
