You might want to consider an upgrade to the PML pan & Trans temp sensor depending if you plan on towing frequently. See thread link below:

I would add a few extra holes (4?) to drill and tap into the housing for counter sunk bolts so when you need to remove the cover the plate still holds the diff.

I'd be tempted to switch the tube with an angle iron with a heavier thickness, 1/4" or more.
Otherwise you could cut a section of the middle out to leave open to drain. Depends where the mounting holes are, hard to tell from the photo if there are any in the middle area.
