The only way I could source the 24-139168 was to buy a whole kit with the shorter 24-139175 included, so I went for it.
Now I wondering whether I should throw on the back shocks too for a test.
Front Springs are 926 and rear 948 (the car was sitting perfectly level).
I believe that the worst...
Yeap and pretty cheap to be honest. However I think it's going to be a big step down from my OME, that's why I was thinking of trying either the bilsteins - nothing available, or the Ranchos.
I am literally unable to source the 4600 in Greece right now. Might be able to find the 5100 available but at a premium, since they are the same I might pull the trigger.
The only other set of shocks I have found are the ranchos 5000x or 5500x (can't recall right now) but leaning towards the...
Hello my good friends.
Long story short - been driving my jeep since 2003, back in 2009 I put on some koni heavy traks with stock springs, lasted until 2021 where I put on a full ome SET with 926 springs in the front which I blew the fronts a week ago. Big mess, leaked from the top on the...
Guys quick update after quite some while trying to tackle the vibration.
Apparently the engine for my KJ was sourced from a 2002 KJ with the 45RFE trans. It seems that mine with the 42RLE has slightly different TC mating diameter (not sure about the technical term). I have found it out when...
Found those on ebay. Not sure if it's against the forum terms to share it here, but you can search for Jeep KJ coolant expansion tank.
It seems to be a direct fit (according to the seller), and definitely cheaper than buying a brand new mopar part.
Hello peeps!
After my engine swap my mechanic decided that he should overtighten the cap on my coolant overflow tank to a point where he destroyed the threads. Since that was my second tank so far (my mopar cracked around 10 years ago) I thought that it might be a good idea to give it a go...
No definitely no leaks... Swapped to 5W40 today since it's still scorching hot in Greece right now and see how it goes.
On the bright side we managed to trace down the drivetrain vibration(s). Apparently there were 2 sources. The front skidplate was bound on the front diff essentially...
I really hope it's something that simple as valve stem seals, because piston rings is going to be a very expensive job to do.
I am seriously considering keeping it as is right now since it's my 3rd summer and weekend car. What's the worst case scenario?
The whole engine got disassemblied and sent to a machine shop for inspection. Final verdict was that the engine was starved from oil.
Lots of debris in the oil pan and the pickup screen. The middle cylinders 3+4 where starved and both rods where stuck on the crankshaft. Damage was terminal and...
2k KM later update...
Bad news - got quite a lot of oil consumption already added 2.5 liters (3 quarts +-). The car smells bad, but there is no smoke. No external leaks at all.
The vibration is still there, yet haven't found out what's causing it. There is also a fluttering sound in low RPM...
Hi guys,
As some of you might now I blew my engine in April. This engine has been overheated a couple of times in the past, being driven hard almost 220.000 km and eventually failed me.
Back in 2022 it had dropped a valve seat and decided to take it to a rather shady shop for inspection...
After 300km I noticed coolant smell.
Took me a couple of days to trace it down to a torn expansion tank return line which I replaced.
Currently I am facing a vibration on idle which disappears between 1000-3000 rpm and comes back a bit under 3500. We traced down a torn trans mount which is...
She fired up today! All good, drove a couple of kilometers around the city.
Some weird things happened though.
1 the oil sender had a different wiring, so I had to use the one from my own car. Thank god mine was almost new.
2 The flywheel didn't match my converter - it was like 10-12mm...
Almost there. Got the bust engine out today - I was a real nightmare due to it not being able to turn.
Bought brand new engine mounts since we are already there, and a brand new original water pump. Fingers crossed it would be done by tomorrow.
Engine finally arrived. Quite expensive, but at least it's a low mileage (given it's age) and stock engine. No LPG conversions etc so it should be fine.
There is some surface rust given the fact that it was used in a coastal area of Crete, however nothing major that some good scrub and paint...
And another update.
The moment we pulled the engine out of my KJ just got a call from a company dealing second hand jeep parts saying the found an engine from a car. It's from a 133.000km 2003 KJ which got bad roof rust, since it was used in a coastal area.
Price was a bit over budget, but...
