UPDATE!!! so put in new thermostat and no issues no overheating or leaking that I see.. for a few days...then while running around stop at gas station for coffee get back in jeep its all rough idly and hesitant...then I get code for cylinders 3&4 barely runs wants to die so I disconnect...
So he actually DID put it thru the radiator :) but the thermostat should have came out from what I'm hearing...is that why it only overheated when driving it but not when it idled for Hal an hour??
SO I stupidly let my friend help me...he "knows what to do" i have since realized he didn't follow the directions on the bottle and put it right I my coolant tank! So what do i do now? Rinse it out? My next question...a few days later I let it run for 30 minutes...no smoke no overheat no...
So it pretty much starts right up and from what I think I know yes it's a cast iron and I hear they are hard to crack...but since it took me 3 weeks to figure out the issue it got so hot it died in the middle of the road...which is severe enough I feel it's actually possible...*super sad face*
The only code I'm throwing is p0152 which makes sense because it's directly below the resovoir overflow air vent which has been spewing all over it for two weeks sogot a new one I will put in tomorrow and then see how it drives *crossing fingers, toes, and EVERYTHING crossable*
So after few weeks of overheating @#$%... I finally found the problem...the coolant resovoir hoses were backwards...now my jeep doesn't want to start but will after a few tries, barely, and will drop idle to .5 very shaky if I accelerate it is smooth (in prk) quick test drive fluids pouring out...
So...I changed the cap and for two weeks no issues...then this week(last few days) went like this...started overheating but showing on the Guage now which wasn't moving before. So swapped thermostat and got oem radiator cap, then it would get hot and boil over to expansion side but the temp...

Also I did get a new cap cause this one had to be at least 5 yrs old and seemed to full of antifreeze when I remove it which I don't recall it doing before...I got one of those quick release ones but its still 16 psi or whatever ..is that ok?
Hey Jeep Peeps ;) OK so no issues with overheating AT ALL except few years ago when I first got it I ended up having to get new radiator and water pump. So last week I'm on my way to clean a house in which the driveway is steep concrete first turning into dirt bumpy rocky ride but perfectly fun...
