03 Liberty 3.7 throwing lots of weird codes and then resets itself.

Very similar to the issue I had last year, which was eventually tracked down to bad earths in the engine bay. Didn't have time to work out which was the problem and some were too tight/rusty to dare to try and undo to clean. In the end I ran a new wire from the battery negative to the existing...

    Strange AC behaviour

Let's say "sorted for now" though I intend to remove/clean/replace all the factory earths in the engine bay, at some time in the future, as it shouldn't need my extra cable and something still might be compromised at present.

    Strange AC behaviour

I've fitted a thick cable directly from battery -ve terminal to engine ground stud on firewall. A/C drive clutch now not hunting. Wipers working fine Voltage on OBD port stable and same as measured across battery.

    Strange AC behaviour

The battery is nearly new, fully charged, with clean and tight connections. The voltage readings there are as expected. However, it's the "voltage" parameter reading on the ODBII output that's, significantly lower and much less stable. This suggests that either; - there's a poor power...

    Strange AC behaviour

Mines a 2002 so the same controls. However, mine cycles in all positions. There's definitely something strange with electrics as my ODB2 logger shows the voltage swinging rapidly between 11.5V and 13V with engine running. Not only is this varying much more than I'd expect but it's about 1.1V...

    Strange AC behaviour

Yea, I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one still stupid/stubborn enough to still drive a 3.7 KJ in the UK....

    Strange AC behaviour

I understand it should do this in some modes of the climate control, but it does it in all modes, all the time, regardless of how I set the controls. Hence the confusion. Strangely, it only started doing this the same week that the wipers stopped "parking" in the down position. I've had a...

    Strange AC behaviour

What can cause the AC compressor drive clutch to switch on/off constantly at idle, even when AC mode isn't selected on the HVAC control? I've pulled the relay to stop it driving me mad.

Need help, cant figure this one out.

Okay, so we had a similar set of symptoms and the cause was very different to those being suggested. Basically the seal on the coolant tank cap had rotted. The coolant wasn't being held under pressure, so gave the impression of overheating as it boiled over. The coolant sprayed across the...

    Cooling System

I had a similar issue and it was just the cap on the tank not holding pressure, as the rubber had perished. Without pressure the coolant will boil at 100C, while with pressure it will run to 115C without issues. Fitted a new Crown brand cap and all sorted.

    Tail light guards?

Our 2002 3.7 Ltd came with black plastic rear light guards. One had been badly reattached and having taken it off, with the intention of properly refitting, we decided it looked better off. It was tricky removing the old adhesive without damaging the lamp lenses but now much easy to wash the car.

    No Key!

I assume you're aware that the Off position is one click to the right of fully counter-clockwise, unlike my car. It's only in the position that should come out, though worn locks sometime have an issue with the key coming out in the full c/clockwise position, which keeps Accessories powered, and...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I ordered a spring last month to help solve the issue with the handbrake lever coming-up to near vertical before the brakes come on. This morning I stripped out the centre console and was able to confirm that the clockspring wasn't doing it's job in taking up the slack in the cables. My hands...

    Missing rubbers

The other alternative would be finding someone that could take measurments of theirs, sufficient to have replicas 3D printed, or maybe a 3D printed mould made, to reproduce in 2-part polyurethane.

    Missing rubbers

I'm trying to find a pair of these rubber bits that enable the rear load cover to stay in place when extended. They don't appear in the Parts List IFAIK so any pointers would be appreciated. Better yet, if you've got a pair kicking around that you don't need... Mine is a 2002 3.7 Ltd but I...

    Constantly Alarming

I think the battery may be the cause of the issue. Reconnected it this morning and the alarm instantly sounded, though it did stop in response to buttons on the fob. Left it a few minutes and all was silence. Got in the car to start the engine but it wasn't having any. Starter chugged a...

    Constantly Alarming

Thanks, that at least gives me something to work with. The battery was a bit down, so I took advantage of it being disconnected to give it a real bench charge, rather than just the trickle from the "battery conditioner". It appeared to be okay after but I think I have another battery I could...

    Constantly Alarming

My thanks to the 44 of you (so far) that have taken the time to read my post. The lack of responses is disappointing but at least it suggests that the cause is unlikely to be something obvious, that I should have realised straight away. However, it is frustrating that the car is effectively...

    Constantly Alarming

This is my first post here, so please be kind... We have a 2002 UK-spec 3.7V6 with 106k miles on the clock. Yesterday, for no apparent reason the alarm went off while she was parked in our very quiet drive. I took the keys out, pressed the button on the fob and the alarm stopped, for about 10...
