Hi, we had a grand cherokee with the 4.7. It threw a rod and blew up on the highway. I would steer clear of them. Back two cylinders do not get enough oil and water circulation back to there is also not the best.
It gave us problems ever since we bought it used till it exploded. Body and...
Thanks, it was a side project for work and a way to paint my new bumper with something different than black which you see everywhere! We were developing a new chrome powder coating. This bumper has a powder primer, then powder chrome and then acrylic powder coating. So far holding up good.
Btw- do get a new distribution box, seal set and heater core as others suggested. You only want to do this job once. It will take you about 13 hours start to finish. More time than money really. But you can do it yourself.
Thanks for answering. I have had good luck getting everything to align during installation multiple times. Then all is fine for many months with new actuator. It seems that it loses its calibration or something. It stopped making the noise the other day, so I will wait to see how long that...
I have problem that keeps occurring about every 6-9 months. I have to replace the recirculation actuator behind the glove box because it starts to malfunction which sounds like someone knocking when you turn the jeep on or off. I have been getting Dorman brand replacements from Auto Zone...
Totally agree with this analysis. Rubber gasket glues everything together and the door won't move. Need to replace the whole box assembly if that happens
Like others said, get error the codes from a reader. You could even go to Autozone or any parts store and they will read the OBD codes for free. My guess if your engine ight is on it is most likely an evap leak. Pretty common on KJs and KKs. I would think if it was exhaust you would hear it...
I will try to get some of the Free all to try out! While I agree the previous owners probably only had the wheels off for tire rotations, this will happen because of
1) poor metal treatment of the hub and nut
2) water really does get trapped in there for some time. The wheel fits so tight and...
I was successful getting the old nuts off with a week long soak of pb blaster, a 34mm and a 35mm socket and a 30" long 1/2" breaker bar! I was worried I would have to cut them off! Here's a pic of old and new nuts.
Replacing struts, hubs and cv shafts. Should be great when it's done. Had...
The factory aluminum wheels fit tight to the hub and salt water gets in and cannot get out. Then galvanic corrosion kicks in and there you have it many years later. It has everything to do with the type of steel, corrosion treatment of the parts, steel and aluminum wheels and the fact that...
This is a common problem for KKs. See this thread for a good description and guide.

Excellent write up. I did the same repair on mine. The picture of the gummed up diverter door seals I think causes many people problems and broken gears and teeth.. bad materials! I did not replace my heater core, but I have to flush it every year now when it seems weak.
I had this problem in my kk. If the popping sound happens when you try to change the temperature or defroster, then one of the actuators may have broken teeth or it is struggling to turn a flap in the the air distribution box. There is a problem with these jeeps in that the adhesive around...
I have an ATH bumper on my 2010. Craftsmanship is great. Highly recommend it. You get what you pay for. And if you want to mount a winch, it's all set to go!
I had an '03 and it lived 180+ miles in the rust belt. The passenger side is much easier than the driver side. Mine was rusted solid. I tried everything including an air hammer. Problem is it rusts to the sleeve in the bushing of the UCA. Ended up using a sawzall to cut the bolt, took 10...
