AC compressor replaced, worked great first day, now only cold at low vehicle speed

I replaced the compressor and accumulator, etc. I had Pep Boys pull vacuum and charge. It worked great the first few days, we went on vacation, returning I noticed it wasn't blowing as cold, started to worry there may be a leak. But I then noticed it would **** cold at low vehicle speed or...

    Frozen camber bolts

I am soaking now. Hopefully I can salvage the bolts, will order new MOPAR/Crown bushes or Superpro if the US distributor gets back with me in time. Worst case, cut the bolts and proceed. But yes decided to keep my stock LCA's since I have new ball joints pressed in. By chance do you know the...

    Frozen camber bolts

Long story short, I replaced the entire suspension two summers ago and had it aligned by Pep Boys when I completed the job along with two new tires. I noticed ride quality and tire wear thereafter about 6 months later. I do not drive the KJ much, put it off and thought I'd either done something...

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

I replaced the boomerang with all in one Moog piece that came with all new joints etc. I will have them check it all while on the lift and rack. Thanks for the feedback.

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

Good feedback. I replaced rear arms, boomerang with Moog, new Bilstein shocks. So there's no chance one of the rear LCA could be defective and cause such? What you say makes sense, solid axle is up and down. I noticed the old decel wandering reappeared recently that was present before I replaced...

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

I run them 5lbs lower than max rating. I can guess all day, but until the new alignment shop confirms either way, I won't really know. I may have installed something wrong, I recall being careful, using my FSM and torque specs, but may have missed something. And/or alignment may be wrong or a...

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

I did not replace the inner tie rods, in hindsight, I should have along with the steering rack bushings. It was two summers ago, extremely hot and I had to cut loose almost everything I replaced as the bolts were frozen, surprisingly that was the only rust on the vehicle. So I overlooked a few...

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

Grrr, just notice the centers of the rear tires are wearing quicker than outer and inner. Taking it to new alignment shop tomorrow for inspection.

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

As this a secondary vehicle, it's a lower priority in my ever growing TODO list, but back on the task. The passenger side inner tire wear is worse as you can imagine. At a crossroad if I want to invest more money at this point, I plan to go back through the entire suspension soon to see if I...

Few more recent oddities with the KJ

    1. As some of you may have read on my other thread, I threw P871 back in May, got it cleared but kick down in 4th seems to be missing, I can floor it to pass traffic at 65-80 and it barely picks up speed. No stuttering, slipping etc. I changed the fluid and filter, no material in the pan. I left...

What did you do to your jeep today?

dropped the KJ off at the dealer to have the TCU flashed, and low and behold, for the first time in my ownership, she would not start in the service bay after check in. Lights, electrics seemingly worked, they tried a booster, she wouldn't make a peep. So we'll see..... Hopefully it's minor...

At a crossroad with the KJ

With JBA out of the lift business, opinions on Quadratec as a seller of OME? Considering https://www.quadratec.com/products/76090_50X_PG.htm to replace the Moog/Bilstein, adding JBA UCA's. I replaced all the suspension/ball joints, but not lower control arm axle bushings. I know the steering...

At a crossroad with the KJ

Mine has almost zero rust, onc spot on the pan under rear seats. I need to Por-15 the area. Took some shots earlier: https://imgur.com/a/wm4Lwb8 May try to get driver side seat fixed or find one in the junkyard, regardless, plan to put some nice seat covers and Weather Tech floor and cargo...

At a crossroad with the KJ

PPI also carries REMAN transmission for $1999 that addresses inherent issues with the original. So $4700 gets me an all new Liberty drive train. https://www.powertrainproducts.net/Chrysler-Jeep-545RFE-Auto-Transmission-p/545rfe.htm Considering the cost of current vehicles/depreciation, carrying...

At a crossroad with the KJ

I talked with the dealer, they'll reprogram the TCU for $125, free inspection of all the other components. I know my steering rack bushings are shot, the AC stopped working and suspect the new Moog upper control arms installed last summer are defective, at least the drivers side. If they can...

At a crossroad with the KJ

She's been solid, I paid $2K, have about another $2500 in her with brakes, suspension, tires and other misc. parts. As I posted in another thread, I'm hearing some valve chatter, get smoke only when in 4WD and noticed the smell today when I had her loaded down with building materials. Trying...

    Incorrect u joint?

I will check it when back from vacation, flip it for testing. It's not a horrid vibration just slight, that was not there before u joint replacement. Also of note, the KJ has always had this horrendous intermittent jerk when downshifting 2nd to first or upshifting from 2nd to third when you...

    Incorrect u joint?

I painted the shaft but marked with red marker for reassembly, I may have gotten the shaft ends swapped around as I am getting slight vibration at 65MPH and 85MPH. I noticed each end had a flat plate weight, I assume they're similar to wheel weights, calibrated in kilograms? And that's possible...

Why are my inner tread scalloping after complete suspension refresh?

I'll upgrade to JBA's in the fall and OME springs. My end goal is 2" or less lift as I don't do much offroad other than hunting a few times a year. I just like having a rig to pull motos, go offroad within reason as needed.

    Incorrect u joint?

Typo on my part, yes I got the 3.625 albeit I had to mix a Spicer and Precision as that's all they had in stock. Upside, I refreshed the driveshaft, cleaned up the yoke so easier to replace if needed, appeared to be the originals.
