You guys were right on the money. I worried that there must be areas that REALLY need lube that I can't reach without ripping more things apart, but still I simply smeared some general purpose grease down both tracks of the sunroof, tried the switch again and everything was smooth as butter.
yep, just started a couple of days ago. I just replaced a broken rear window regulator nut which at least sounded broken. The sunroof is silent and smooth in short spurts before it stops. Good point about re-greasing, I'll likely try a bit of grease first before starting to remove the roof liner.
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but thought I'd check. My 2002 Liberty sunroof opens a bit when I press the button, then I need to press more to open a bit more, and so on. Same thing happens when closing..it goes in short spurts and I have to press the button multiple times...
