Thanks for the link - it was very helpful. The actual part number number ended with an M but that apparently is not a big deal. What I found helpful with the listing is the seller included an interchange list which I presume is a listing of all models that will work in place of others in the...
I decided to take your advice and contacted a local deal and was given the part number 5603855am for the original unit and I could get one from them for "only" $628 :wtf2: :favorites68: umm-yeah right. I did a search on ebay and found 2 items listed in english - one was for the faceplate only...
LibertyTC - to be honest I am surprised you are the first one to question why on earth someone would want to go back to OEM from what they may think is a higher end HU - the reality is the Kenwood installed is not in my opinion a higher end HU - it is a KDC-180 and retails in most places...
Thanks kaktuso - the first link was especially informative but I just want to make sure I am reading things correctly:
" There are many radio options for the 2002-2007 KJ Liberty.
From 2002-2003, the RBB was the base radio available on Sport. It featured an A/M-F/M radio and a cassette...
Thanks Gyro - even though some of the descriptions listed on the top section seem to contradict with what the part number descriptions say at least I have some part numbers to work with while searching ebay and see if I can find a unit that matches the build list description that will fit my...
I used the link that Matt provided me to generate a Build Sheet but all it said about the radio was AM/FM Cass/CD Radio w/Changer Ctrl and no 3 letter code which I could of used with the chart Gyro provided. I did e-mail jeep so I will see what they say.
Thanks for the link but unfortunately the build sheet it gives me says the same thing as you said which is a bit generic but then again it does tell me that the OEM radio had a CD and a Cassette and only some of the units listed on ebay had both a cassette and a CD so it does narrow it down ...
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited and previous owner replaced the OEM radio with a Kenwood and while the Kenwood sounds good I would like to replace it back with the original OEM radio it had in it. The problem is that the Kenwood has tiny controls on it making it tough to change channels and...
It seems you and prof can talk now as I had the old one out and the new one in at just under 15 minutes - of course what helped was me taking the old one out of the one of the u-pull yard so I had all the tools that I needed ready :emotions34:. These things breaking must be common as it took me...
Thanks leeann !
Ironically I could not find an owners manual for a 2002 Jeep Liberty ( turns out I did not need it as it came with one) but the service manual is available Thanks so much for the link :party52: :party52:
After reading the details of the procedure ( the diagram...
Prof - it's not so much the getting access on the inside but the partial removal of the fender to get access to the back of the mount and from I have read on other car forums is the potential source of damage to the fender. Sure on paper ( as in the service manual) it looks easy but from...
Luke - the main reason I mentioned the bezel was if I was going to spend $31 for the mount assembly and the antenna (the OEM mount assembly being around $15 and the replacement OEM antenna being around $16) I might as well invest in the bezel to restore it to stock appearance. Again - it's not...
Actually I was looking at both these brands on ebay before seeing your post. I also looked at various sites that sell these and allow buyer reviews . The various Metra models had reviews all over the place from fantastic to avoid like the plague as they suck but I have a feeling some of these...
As others have replied - it's not the cost of the part but what you have to do to replace it. Although if I read that site you linked to correct in addition to the part you listed it costs around $16 for the antenna itself and $2.00 for the bezel for a cost of $32. The cost is still not...
Sigh
:wtf2: I knew it was bad and that's why I was hoping to use a right angle antenna that attaches with set screws to the remaining post :/ This setup reminds me of a Ford Focus I had where I had to jack up the front end and remove the inner wheel well cover to boost the a/c - then again...
Photo of antenna mount
Not exactly sure what happened to the antenna as it came like that - never paid attention as the radio was getting the stations I listen to at the time. Here is a picture of the mount:
I just purchased a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited and love it but the antenna is broken of which makes reception sketchy. Yes- I realize this was discussed here before but the latest thread is years old and some of the products are no longer available. I also realize there are numerous replacement...
