Traction control & ABS indication lights

Had a similar issue with my 2012 Liberty. Took it to AutoZone and they pulled the codes that indicated a drivers’ side rear ABS sensor. Replaced both rear sensors and problem solved.

    Transmission (Model) Code

I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4. I would like to order a transmission fluid dipstick and need to verify the transmission model code. Thank-you

Need help with traction control light

You need to go to a parts store that will read all codes for you. A basic reader doesn’t do it. I had a similar problem and the errors showed ABS Rear Wheel Sensor, Left. The rears are straightforward to replace if you’re only doing the sensors. Replaced both rears and issue resolved.

    THE LEGENDARY P00456 CODE.

On my 2012 Liberty, a smoke test revealed it was the black hard-tubing that runs along the firewall. Had a crack at the 45 degree bend. Never would have ‘seen’ it. Required the smoke test at a SMOG shop to find the problem. TEXT EDIT: Now I'm second-guessing myself. I believe the piping on the...

    Small leak detected code

My first thought too based on the original post. Any specific error codes to work with?

    2010 Liberty code P0456

Your problem has been solved but for others, I had the same issue that drove me crazy trying to resolve on my 2012 Liberty. In my case, it was a plastic EVAP line under the hood, along the firewall. There was a small crack at a 45 degree bend. Never would have seen it, required a smoke test to...

Help! About to purchase a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport

I have had a 2012 version for about seven years and mechanically has been a great vehicle, with about 86k miles on it. Gas mileage is not great and under-powered for a 3.7L V-6. One thing I am disappointed about is the front seat covers. Totally shot, both sides, from getting in and out of the...

    Noisy startup normal?

That noise is fairly common on most engines due to ‘wear’ over higher mileage. An engine with 100k miles on it won’t sound like an engine when brand-new. I’ve owned a couple of Jeep’s and my opinion is they tend to sound more ‘agriculture’ than ‘refined’ when starting and idling. You get a...

    Long-term EVAP troubles

Chasing down Check Engine Light or EVAP issues can be rough. I experienced one on my 2012 Liberty (KK). Turned out to be cracked line in the engine compartment. I checked them but never would have found it without help. It was on the backside of a 90 degree bend along the firewall on the...

Synthetic vs. Multi-Purpose Fluids - NOT OIL QUESTION

I'v been dragging my feet getting all the necessary fluids for some maintenance work on my 2012 Jeep KK and 2003 Suburban, both four-wheel drives. Some of the fluids match up viscosity-wise, but not necessarily fluid type. For example, the older Suburban recommends 'synthetic' products for the...

Factory equipment codes for general maintenance

Very in-depth information and I'll need to look around but seems like it's what I need. Thank you for the links.

Factory equipment codes for general maintenance

I would like to do some general maintenance on my 2012 Jeep Liberty KK and I am wondering if there is an easy way to determine the drivetrain codes, recommenced fluids and capacities. I have a Suburban that has a placard showing all the original equipment from the factory, so there is no gray...

    Rear liftgate not locking...

Got the Jeep Liberty Lift Gate Actuator, Mopar #0458 9131 AG -001, today. Install was pretty simple and there are only three torx bolts holding the actuator in place. All now works as it should. Hope this information is helpful to others.

    Rear liftgate not locking...

Just discovered that the rear lift gate on my 2012 Jeep Liberty KK is no longer locking with the key remote or the interior door lock switches. When I try to lock or unlock, I can hear all the door locks are working but not at the rear lift gate. I checked the fuse which MIGHT be the correct...

    Professional OBD2 Diagnostic Scan Tool

Maybe I'm not clear on what your question is... "All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD II equipped. In general, this means all 1996 model year cars and light trucks are compliant, even if built in late 1995. 2) There will be...

Interior Door Handle 'Spring' Question with images

I had a problem with the drivers' door interior handle, where it seemed really loose and like something was breaking. Easy to access and it turned out there was a pin that had worked its way up, to the point that the handle was flopping around in its mount. I noticed a spring that had no tention...

Need help with rear door seals...

Part number is JEEP 5112244AD. Same part number for both sides of the chassis. This part number is for the seal on the body-side of the chassis only, not the door side. There are two seals in total, but in my case, only the one on the chassis side wore through. From eBay seller newsmyrnacjd1...

No fluid from windshield wiper nozzles...

No fluid from windshield wiper nozzles and the fluid reservoir was fairly full. Did a Google and came up with a couple of YouTube videos on how to gain access and replace the nozzles. I had to buy a $10 tool for removing the plastic fasteners / retainers. Worth it though as it allowed me to...

    Oil changed, bad leak

No question in my mind that the oil filter was too loose. It may not have leaked at first but I'm guessing at start-up on the cold motor there is a little more oil pressure and that was enough to force the leak. The amount of oil on the floor is way too much for some of the oil to have gotten...
