    Hub replacement

Thanks to ptsb5a for these instructions. They helped tremendously. One thing I would like to add. Here in our lovely Western NY winters we use tons of salt on our roads and everything rusts terribly on our vehicles. It makes the 35 mm nut and the 3 bolts in the hub casting a little difficult...

Vibration between 45 and 55 mph

It was the rear U-Joint on the rear drive shaft. Replaced them both and vibration is gone. Glad it was a relatively easy and inexpensive fix. It is interesting how that vibration transmitted so well to the steering wheel. Thank you tommud.

Vibration between 45 and 55 mph

There is another guy here at work who also owns a Liberty. I described the symptoms to him and he agrees its the u-joints on the rear drive shaft because his does the exact same thing. He says he has replaced his u-joint so often that he went to a junk yard and bought a second drive shaft that...

Vibration between 45 and 55 mph

I just crawled under it and looked at the front drive shaft. Both boots are intact and I can't detect any slop at all in the CV joints at either end. I will have to pull the rear drive shaft later. I did replace the rear u-joint about a year and a half ago but maybe the front one is shot now.

Vibration between 45 and 55 mph

I have a 07 Liberty Sport all stock with 65K miles on it. This week I started getting a very annoying vibration commencing at 45 mph. It seems to diminish above 60 and also seems to get a little worse when you step on the gas. You can feel it in the seat of your pants and in the steering...

    Rumble Strip Noise

Here is an update. Back in November I had the torque converter replaced and the computer reflashed as per the Chrysler service bulletin. It ended up costing me $900. It ran fine until this past June when with no warning the tranny failed. That time it cost me $3500 for a Jasper reman. That...

    Rumble Strip Noise

The vehicle is completely stock including tires. I had a complete 4x4 service done in July with all fluids changed in tranny, xfer case and both differentials at the same time when I had the pinion seal replaced. I had that work done by a qualified mechanic so I hope he put in ATF+4. I will...

    Rumble Strip Noise

One more question. Should I just run it with the OD disabled until I can get the torque converter replaced? Is there any danger in driving it like it is?

    Rumble Strip Noise

I checked the build date and it does apply, that's the good news. The bad news is that it looks like the torque converter has to be replaced which won't be cheap.

    Rumble Strip Noise

Thank you. It sounds like torque converter shudder just might be what it is. I have to call home and ask my wife to get the date off the door sticker for me. Do you know if this is something that might be covered under warranty? I'm not sure if 07 liberty has 7yr/70K mile powertrain warranty...

    Rumble Strip Noise

My 07 Liberty Sport makes a sporadic noise typically between 40-50 mph. When it happens it's only for a few seconds and it just like driving on a rumble strip although not as loud or severe. I thought it might be u-joints on the rear drive shaft. The rear joint felt a little stiff so I...
