Loose sounds jingling, turns into violent clunking
Hello Burnzomatic ; I had a similar noise in my 2003 . Sometimes mild tingling sound then periodic loud clunking. Turned out to be the emergency brake assembly was shot / rusted / broke off ect and depending on where it lodged itself it would give those very annoying sounds . Different... -

Check engine light
I got some bad gas a week ago ; my 03 started to hesitate soon after fill up. Check engine light came on. I knew it was bad gas with moisture in it ; and immediately put in Heet Dry Gas . Engine smoothed out in less than a minute and has been fine ever since . Check engine light will not go...- Michiman

2002 Limited 3.7L Engine Repair/Replace Advice
I had the same issue with our 03 back in 2016 with 140,000 miles on it . Replaced both Cyl Heads with a matched set ; though issue at the time was only one warped head . Cost working with a good shop here in Michigan was a bit over $3 K . Smooth as silk ever since . I agree.... shouldn't...- Michiman
