Just swapped out the worn front pads on my '02 for a new set of carquest ceramic pads and noticed that when stopping sometimes there is a metal to metal grinding noise. Old pads on the driver's side were pretty worn when compared to the passenger's side, especially the inside pad on the DS...
I thought about this too but in the end found a set for sale on the one of the forums. The way the hooks mount is kinda specific to the Liberty and Jeep didn't give us much room for options. Look in salvage yards and check the for sale section on the forums and sooner or later some will come up...
Got a call from LKQ today saying they had done an engineering analysis of the engine and it had apparently done the same thing as Yellow Coyote's jeep and dropped a valve seat introducing too much lash in the upper valvetrain causing the rocker arm and lifter issues. So it looks like motor #3 is...
Sorry to hear about that .... You know it's a funny thing in that it seems technology seem to be a breeder reactor for crappier engines. I remember alot of the old pushrod V-8's didn't seem to have near the problems all this new whiz-bang stuff does. I looked at the rocker arm on mine when I was...
Mine broke a valve spring and dropped a valve in 08/09 resulting in the install of a new engine. This one is still under warranty according to the paperwork I have so we'll see how this works out. At this point I think the head on that side is coming off to check for further damage and see if it...
Got a call from the stealership today saying that in addition to the faulty driver circuit for cyl. #5 in the PCM (replaced PCM). That when they started it back up they noticed a ticking in the engine so ran a compression check and found cyl. #6 was @0. Proceeded to pull the valve cover and...
Sorry to hear that....Here's a tip for pulling the exhaust out of your way..Use ratchet straps and don't get too crazy with them and bend the pipe. Just tighten them down enough to pull the pipe enough to get your socket in there.
Got the call from the stealership this a.m.and the verdict is a faulty fuelinjector driver in the PCM for cylinder #5 along with a bad oxy sensor. Total cost will be $900 including the tow to the dealership, diagnostics, labor and the parts.
...And on a crappier note ....I had stopped at...
When we checked the codes my buddy was using an $1800 scan tool that he uses at his shop. It still didn't pull any codes up. Is there some jeep specific scan tool that should be used to check it ?? Obviously there's something wrong with it but it doesn't want to cooperate with giving us the...
Don't have any of the tools needed to check the injectors, and it isn't throwing any misfire codes that could be found. Coolant level looked normal.Yep, it's a 3.7
Did a search but didn't come up with much.. The '02 is running like a old harley motorcycle and when a buddy and I checked for stored codes there were non but when you turn the key to the "ON" position after a few seconds the check engine light flashes 12 time then stays on.
The engine is...
A buddy is coming by tomorrow with the diagnostic scanner and the fuel pressure test tool. That's the strange thing about it .....even when I was having problems with it stalling and idleing rough occasionally, it would throw no codes, absolutely none. It was checked less than a month ago for...
OK.... Got it to start by giving it some gas pedal and it barely runs and while it does it's very rough. Have to keep giving it gas just to keep it running. Barely managed to back itself into the garage and it seemed the exhaust was smokey, like it was running rich or something. ?????
Don't know how that would work out for me. The cheap ratchet straps I have only have two settings ....crank it down, and when you pull the release lever and flip the handle up it releases. No way for me to ratchet it down, only up...
I can hearthe pump kick on when I turn the key. You're absolutely right about pushing it in the garage, itdamn near can't be done by two people that's why mine is sitting just outside the garage door right now.:disgust:
Definitely cheap enough to add to the tool box. Any tips for dropping the tank ?? I was thinking of using a piece of plywood to spread the force of the floor jack and make the whole procedure a bit more stable. Just needed to know if the factory hid some stuff up in there that I should be...
