Problem starting
Why do you have your foot on the gas while starting? It's fuel injected, that's not necessary,and if that's what you're doing, then that's probably your problem.- thecause17

White smoke and burn smell from rear wheel?
I heard of a problem a while back with the rear rotors glazing over and causing noise issues. Oil Filters
The general rule of thumb is 3 months or 3000 miles. In my opinion, if you're going to change the filter, change the oil, since you're already going to have to add make up oil to replace what was in the filter and lost in the change. I strictly change mine to the factory maintenance schedule.- thecause17

I don't think it's a fuel problem. If you're smelling gas, then to me that means when it finally does start, it was on the verge of flooding before doing so, meaning it's getting plenty of fuel....unless it's getting too much. Should be a tag on the rear diff somewhere stating the rear end designation. If not you could go to a dealer and get them to print out a build sheet, and on there it will tell you what it has.- thecause17

I totally agree with you on this, this has been an opinion of mine since they came out. I feel that because of 9/11, and all the Patriotism that soon followed, such as people flying American flags on their cars, that the name change took place. What about at idle, is there any sort of miss at idle...go to the rear of the vehicle and listem to the tailpipe, it's usually pretty easy to hear a miss.- thecause17

Your Fords do have an Alarm if there's a blinking light, and it's basically the same thing as the Sentry key in the Chryslers. It's called PATS, Passive AntiTheft System. It's a transponder key, and the vehicle will not run unless started with the programmed keys. It arms itself every time...- thecause17
