    Gas Overflowing?

I also round up to even $. Cant stand the odd numbers. Never had the splash back routine either. However I set the auto cutoff at the slowest speed. Wait for the click off and round up. Never an issue. 03, LE, 3.7, 45RFE, etc..

What do you TOW with your KJ/KK ?

Only way to ride from Tok, AK to Dawson, YT up here in the winter. 200 miles of unplowed road! Not a lot of roads given the size of the state. Private plane way to expensive. Great way to see the back country in the winter. Think Snow! And it's a blue (Atlantic) Liberty!!

    factory tire/brake high milage club

Factory SRA's @ 72.5K, lost left rear at 5 degrees F coming pout of Anchorage at night. Replaced all 5 with BFG AT TA's Front pads still going strong at 116.7 K miles. Rears were changed after a caliper locked up and ate the pads and rotor. Bothe sides changed under warranty (Calipers anyhow)...

    tcase output leak

Ya know we that live here tend to take too much for granted. It's only when we go outside that we find out how much we love this state. Sorry about jacking the thread like that Hope your leakage problem gets resolved. I have had the seal changed out on mine (03 with 116K) once about 10 K ago...

    tcase output leak

What brought you to "Valdisease"? Have lived in AK for almost 27 years and only driven down there once. Thompson Pass is a real hoot!

    tcase output leak

Actually the port of Valdez is pretty clean, especially if you compare it to parts of Prince William Sound past Bligh Reef.

Early, early, early stages of planning...

Would be happy to answer any questions I can. Those of us that live up here are happy to show it off. Occasional earthquakes, volcanoes and drop dead gorgeous mountains. Regarding the job market, I can only speak from my experience and that is in health care. I am a retired (28 yrs military...

Early, early, early stages of planning...

Drove from Biloxi, MS to Anchorage in 1983 in a 1974 Jeep Cherokee. Its parked out behind the house. Never looked back. Get a copy of "The Milepost". Most complete publication on the market for travel to the Greatland. Choices are road travel through Canada (BC and Yukon) if crossing in the...

    Uh Oh...P 0300 Code!

My money is on the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Lost mine last year doing pretty much what you described. Shut it off and let it sit a bit and she would seem to be OK, and then go belly up. It has not failed yet but it is terminal and when it does go you will not be able to get it to start.

    Ethanol Now in Chevron Fuel!

So far it has not made it to AK. All our fuel is refined in state and since corn does not do well up here, bringing ethanol up would jack the already high cost through the roof. Only good thing is my new Polaris Widetrak IQ 600 has a resistor plug in that I can change out for ethanol blends...

Mileage dropped off pretty bad lately....

As temperature drops so does your tire pressure. Can be quite significant if they were filled in warmer temps. Conversely the tire pressure, if set at cold temp, will rise as outside air temps increase. I remember a criteria for test in chemistry of "standard temperature and pressure". You can...

What does everybody pay for their fuel

Presently 87 octane regular is at $3.25/gallon in the Anchorage area. And it is refined from AK crude right here in AK. It includes an $0.08 gallon state highway tax. One of lowest in the nation with the highest cost per gallon.

    Heated Mirror Question?

My 03 Limited has auto dim on the inside and driver-side outside mirrors. The switch is on the inside mirror at the bottom center. I leave mine off because I have factory tinted glass and when the inside mirror dims you can barely see out the back glass with the dim effect. I can only speak...

    I Love My Libby

re the vintage Cherokees. First 4wd was a 1974 2 door Cherokee. Still have it parked on the back of the lot along with a pair of 77 widtracks (an S and a Chief). Just not a lot of sheet metal left, but the 74 and one 77 run. 360 AMC, one with a 2bbl (74) and the 77 with a 4 bbl. Then there...

    Oh look, a block heater!

Have had one in both my old Cherokees and the Liberty came with one. Up here we plug in below 20 F. Helps keep the EPA off the muni's back re air quality. And it sure gets warm faster too. Have an inside switched duplex outside with a couple winter grade cords plugged in (separate beaker)...

    CB antenna SWR issue.

I would think that the location and the manner in which it is mounted would NOT be an issue re high SWR. Do you use the shock spring for both of the antennas? While not overly likely, the extra length could be your problem. If you do not use it with the 4 footer, try taking it out of line with...

    CB antenna SWR issue.

NO, not even close. It is a Webster Bandspanner from the 50s. Has not been made for a long time. Actually have 2 of them. Got one in Biloxi, MS when I was stationed there and used it on my 74 Cherokee and later on my 84 XJ. The owners manual (2 pages) shows it mounted on the rear bumper of a...
