Yes, I did the swap, and I find it worthwhile. I'd say, if you frequently find yourself in situations where you'd like to have 4wd on, but the physics of part-time keep you from being able to do so, then the swap is worth it. Here is the link to my write-up. Just be sure that the 242 is from a KJ.- kjpilot

I'd try to mount the amp under the rear seat. That way if you ever need to use the cargo area, all you have to remove is the box.- kjpilot

Sorry, I'm not a sub woofer fanatic, I'm an audio snob! I dislike prefab boxes, especially the ones that are, well, huge boxes. I like systems that sound great & retain most of the functionality of the vehicle. When I bought a house, one of my first purchases was a table saw!- kjpilot

The bottom of the battery is probably smooth. The fabric on the sub box + the pressure from the weight of the box tend to keep them in place. I bet Bash's box tips over before it slides. 2006 KJ's isn't going anywhere unless he's involved in a big accident.- kjpilot

No, not for that. If you do notice any strain on the electrical system, don't start with the battery or alternator, but with the wiring. There is no viscous coupling in the NP-242 (selec-trac) t-case. it acts like an open differential, only between the front & rear wheels. The Grand Cherokee's Quadra-trac uses the viscous coupling. The problem using Part time when it's just slick in spotty areas is you hit a lot of dry pavement...- kjpilot

You can use full-time any time, all the time if you want. Part-time is only to be used when on loose material like gravel, dirt, & deep snow. Since you have full-time, I'd say only use part-time if you are actually off-road or in one heck of a snow storm, otherwise use full-time or 2WD.- kjpilot

Don't play that Amp to speaker match crap. It's a myth. I haven't done that since High School (sadly, about 2 decades ago). It's better to have an amp that is clean than to worry about power output & speaker capability. I'd prefer to have a high quality amp that puts out 100 W per channel to...- kjpilot
