‘06 limited 192,000 miles. After it’s been sitting, with the engine cold upon first start there’s a puff of blue smoke. Once it’s been started or engine is warm there’s no issues. The previous owner ran synthetic oil in it, it’s not due for an oil change yet so I haven’t done an oil change. I’ve...
Since the coolant will be drained, you could do the water pump and thermostat since they’ll probably be damage and gunked up too. Might as well do it all now and put the proper coolant in.
It is a big job. Not that hard though, just a lot of bolts and screws to remove. I lowered the column on mine just for ease of working on it but didn’t remove it. Was no big deal. It’s more of a time consuming task. Make sure your blend doors are working properly while you’re doing it. Or before...
My AC isn’t working. It was fine a month or so ago, then slowly quit cooling. It’s now been recharged and the line is cold now but still no cold air. Compressor kicks in and fuse is good. Everything seems good but there’s still no cold air. System was very low before recharge. Any idea what may...
I’ll be pulling the cover to change fluid and check things out as soon as I can. Wouldn’t it make noise anytime I accelerate though, not just on turns?
I’m hoping it’s nothing serious like that but I will check them out.
Aren’t they usually loud while driving at all times though? I had kinda eliminated that as a possibility because it’s not always loud. But that’s a good idea, something I’ll definitely check out.
Sorry, got busy with a project. I’ll try and check the fluid this weekend. Not sure on the trac loc. No idea if it’s the rear diff. It just sounds like the right rear is where the noise comes from and only happens on right turns.
I’m getting a rubbing/howling noise out of the rear end on right turns only. Driving straight or left turns there’s no issue. Happens with acceleration or not. Any ideas?
I’m going to get rid of my 02 due to rust. I picked up an 06 in pretty good shape. Unfortunately it has a dent in the center front of the hood. I’ll get a new hood and have it painted, but in the meantime I’m looking for something to cover it up. I’ve been looking at the t hood/bra covers...
Asking for a friend (yes for real). Replaced the lifters due to ticking and now there’s a clacking sound. No noticeable vibrations. Any ideas? Doesn’t sound like lower end.
I’m having an issue with a coolant leak now as well. I need to pull the skid plate to look at it. I’m not sure where it’s leaking. It only leaks while running. I guess a pressure test is the first place to start.
I’ve got a little belt squeal at times. The belt looks pretty good so I’m figuring that the tensioner may be going. Of course I’ll replace the belt as well. I’m trying to get the parts but there are the 2 sizes (76 or 90 I believe). So am I crazy to think that a minor occasional squeal is the...
Cut them or hind the heads off. I had to. Make sure you have the new bolts in hand though before you cut them. The new bolts aren’t really cheap but not too bad. I got mine from the stealership.
I use 5/30 castrol gtx conventional. Once I year I’ll do a change and use conventional high mileage to clean things out a bit, but for most changes in most my vehicles it’s 5/30 castrol gtx. Never had an issue. I do run Mobil 1 synthetic in my xj but that’s because it’s been used in it since...
