How to make my 2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7 louder?

Yes, make that engine roar so you can be challenged at every take-off from a red light and lose every time, lol. At least that's what would happen where I live...no state inspection and noise laws are not enforced.

    Door Lock Fail

If the lock actuator in question still works when using the remote button then the problem is not the actuator. May be the single lock/unlock rocker switch in the driver's door that's bad. Unless the other three door locks still work when using that rocker switch in the driver door? That would...

    Door Lock Fail

When you say it still works manually with the key, are you using the button on the remote or the physical key in the lock to unlock? I think they are not on individual fuses so if the other three still work with the remote or the internal rocker switch, it's probably that one lock mechanism...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Dealing with a new set of KJ questions today... 1) What is the proper idle RPM at startup for the 2005 3.7l? Is 1,300 at startup and still sitting idle too high? After a few seconds it then settles at 1,000 while transmission is still in Park. Once in Drive but still idle, RPMs go to about...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I have had to replace the regulators in both rear doors multiple times. First cable problem occured when vehicle was 7 years old. Went with the looped cable design - they are interchangable. There is a bracket with a clip that holds the window glass to the rail that the window glass rides on up...

    THE LEGENDARY P00456 CODE.

Sorry to hear this. This sounds like my struggle last year. Even a smoke test provided no answers. I ended up replacing more evap-related parts, one by one. Gas cap twice, canister, etc. The code went away and then came back each time. The last thing I changed was the molded vacuum harness tube...

Help - how to diagnose a bad catalytic converter?

For those who are still following - after many struggles the P0456 Evap leak has been solved! Another visit to another shop had resulted in no new ideas. I ended up replacing parts one at a time. Figured I might as well since parts are all beyond their lifespan and seem harder and harder to get...

    06 EVAP hose connector

Had a similar issue with an EVAP line under the hood on my '05. Could not get it to release either until I had received the spare part so I could see the inside of the new connector. Yours looks similar but no guarantee. Found that pressing on the blue colored ring while gently pulling on and...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Pumped gas and, alas, the dreaded fuel burp is back. After eight successful fill-ups without spillage I was getting complacent and thought the new charcoal canister was doing its magic. But...yesterday resulted in another pair of sneakers soaked in fuel. Back to calculating gallons needed at...

    '03 Jeep Liberty Mopar Radiator

A little off topic but I am questioning the entire Mopar sourcing at this time. Replaced three different molded plastic vacuum tubes under the hood over the past couple of years. First one, before the pandemic supply nightmare started, came in Mopar labeled sealed clear bag, with the usual Mopar...

    Humming noise starts at 40mph

That is good to know about no compression tool needed. I may tackle that replacement after all. Finding an honest shop is a struggle where I am. The alignment shop I visited is the highest rated one in town. And actually did not try to upsell me on a bunch of things that were not broken or not...

    Humming noise starts at 40mph

Suspension has been replaced twice - most recently this past spring. Including front UCA & LBJ. After new struts and shocks all 4 tires had 19" from center of wheel to fender. Right now, after a few months, the front still has 19" but the rear is at 18.75" and 18.5". I am thinking the rear...

    Humming noise starts at 40mph

Thanks for all the suggestions! Don't have a roof rack, so it's not a wind noise. Was considering new tires because nothing else seemed to have changed to create that noise. Would have been a shame since they are only 20% worn. An out-of-the-box thinking mechanic suggested flipping the tires on...

Edit - phone glitched, posted this twice... please ignore this one. Humming noise starts at 40mph

For a few months now I have had a humming/howling noise whenever the Jeep hits 40mph on the dot. The sound increases with more speed but levels out at about 65mph and is then oscillating, changing between a little higher and then lower pitch every couple seconds. Almost like the A/c cycling on...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I have only pumped gas once since I replaced it. Would not take that one event as proof that the burp problem is permanently fixed. I replaced the canister to take care of a long-standing Evap leak (which it didn't, lol). The possible positive effect on fuel burp was the mechanic's sales pitch...

What did you do to your jeep today?

For those who have been wondering, I got gas today at my usual Costco gas station (after installing a new charcoal canister a couple of weeks ago), let it go until the auto shutoff stopped the flow and NO fuel burp!!! For the first time in 10+ years. Usually I get doused unless I do the...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Yes, this! Replaced that pump about 25,000 miles ago (2020) because of the mystery evap code situation and it solved it for about one year. Then the code started popping up again last fall. The original pump lasted 255,000 miles.
