It really depends on my mood but most of the time I prefer to use the CC in the right hand lane. That usually means setting it in the low 60s. If I am going on a long run I'll average 75+.

Your 21.4 is actually more remarkable than my 29mpg. Consumption goes up significantly above 60mph. In fact you can lose over 5% for every 5mph above 60mph. Higher speeds will have a massive impact in an SUV with a poor drag coefficient. So dropping down to 60mph from your 80mph would have...

You don't need to know how much fuel is there JUST how much fuel it took to fill it. The difference between full to the brim and a couple of inches down the pipe is probably less than .05 of a gallon in most cars. BTW - I actually do scientific tests of liquids from 7:00am-11:00am every...

Nope the second time it was topped off until I could see it. Its actually a fairly reliable way of getting a consumption reading actually: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG.do?action=calcMPG

    Passenger seat issue?

My son has a 2006 Liberty and one side of the passenger seat has a lot of give in it. If you push back the left side moves a couple of inches further than the right side. Just wondered if anyone else has experience a similar issue before I try and fix it? Maybe something is loose or maybe...

We did 62 miles and the fill up was 2.1 gallons. It was a controlled flat run using CC and hardly any use of the brakes. Under similar conditions I have managed 20% above the highway EPA in several cars: Envoy XL 4.2: EPA 19, regularly got 25mpg Grand Cherokee 4.0: EPA 20, regularly got...

    Service Contracts After 100,000 miles

Sorry meant compressor. In a Grand Cherokee they need to remove the dash I think, so the labor charge is a few hundred.

I will pay for airfare and give you $1,000 to come to Florida, where I will prove those numbers. If I am right you don't get the money. The old EPA number for highway is 23mpg, and I have managed well above the EPA number on every car I have owned. My old Envoy had a highway EPA of 19mpg, and...

    Service Contracts After 100,000 miles

We have had that warranty in the past. The aircon condenser was replaced no arguments, a $1,400 job, two electric windows were repaired at $500 a piece. No checks were made on service history, and because its in the Jeep/Chrysler computer there are no forms to fill in. Its just like the...

Jeep/Chrysler http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/pricing/index.cfm?fuseaction=displayQuotes&deductible=100&planYear=0&moneyBackGuarantee=0&#heading There is no fine print, the same conditions as the manufacturers warranty apply.

    Service Contracts After 100,000 miles

If you buy a sub 4-year 48,000 Jeep they offer a life time warranty for $2,400. That is a tempting deal if you intend running it into the ground. Other than that I would just bank the money and gamble on it TBH.

Done another top up after mixed driving, it averaged 18.5mpg. It is the closest thing we get to urban but its not quite as bad as inner cities. The aircon was on full again (fan speed 3), its stinking hot down here at his time of years. That is pretty much inline with past experiences with a...

Sorry guys, I made a mistake with the numbers. My son said we used 2.1 gallons, I checked the Visa statement and he is correct. So we actually managed 29.5 mpg.

The National Maximum Speed Law in the United States was a provision of the 1974 Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act that prohibited speed limits higher than 55 mph (90 km/h). This cap was intended to reduce gasoline consumption by 2.2% in response to the 1973 oil crisis. BTW - Carter was...

Its a 2006 2wd Auto. The old EPA was 23mpg highway with average driving. I have had 20% above EPA numbers in nearly every car I have owned/driven, so 27-28mpg is not a stretch. That was a controlled run on the highway (flat), minimal breaking and maximize use of free wheeling. Next time its...

Florida is pretty flat ;) 45hmph is rarely the most economical. Traditionally it was around 56mph, hence the old 55 speed limits during the oil crisis. These days many cars get peak MPG at between 62-68mph. Know my CTS, and my old Envoy both peaked at 65mph.

Yep, I going around forums lying for fun. BTW - the old EPA number for the 3.7L was 23 Highway. That is with your average heavy footed driver at the wheel. I used to get 25mpg in my old Envoy that had a EPA of 19mpg. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/driveHabits.shtml Aggressive driving...
