tow hook mounts M bolts needed

You don't have to remove the bumper cover to install the tow hooks on a 2005 model. The mounting holes are in plain sight when you crawl under and look up at the front end. On 2004 and older models, they recommend to remove the bumper cover to make the job easier, but I was able to mount my...

    Reliability?

Well at least he didn't call it a car. My wife always calls it a car. [-( It's much closer to a truck than it is a car. In fact, if it had a frame rail chassis like the Wrangler it would be a truck. But yeah, JEEP always works!

    Class III extension

I wouldn't get an extension if I were you. I'd just get a 14" ball mount. www.ontheball.com sells 14" ball mounts for less than $20 bucks. They will solve all your towing concerns, won't drop your capacity any, and will work with the factory receiver hitch.

Gauge Pods for '05 Liberty CRD

Can you guys explain what you mean by mounting the thermocouple "pre-turbo"? Isn't the air "pre-turbo" just the air coming through the airbox? Wouldn't that always be the same temp? Surely I'm missing something here... ](*,)

    Brought a CRD home

My CRD has an open differential. The trac-lock is optional. I guess these guys are correct about the cruise. I didn't know you could get a CRD without cruise either. I thought all CRDs had the "c" package even on the sports. But I guess not.

    Skid plates

If possible, drill the holes on out and just use standard bolts and nuts. You'll be thankful you did. This factory hardware SUCKS.

We don't need no stinking badges...

Chrysler products have been NOTORIOUS for the emblems peeling, chipping, and fading over the years. It seems that the '05 models now have a different type of emblem that is higher quality. Hopefully, these will not suffer from the same problems.

    CRD milestone: 10K miles

I bought my CRD in May also. I'll roll 10,000 miles before the end of this month. I'm got the "shuddering" problem at 60 mph after a hard acceleration, and some excessive valve-train ticking on a warm startup, but other than that it's been flawless and I'm averaging 20.5 towing, 23.5 around...

CRD kicked some butt last week (Long)

Just a couple of observations.. I've towed as much as 4,000 lbs. with my CRD, and I've never had to take it out of overdrive even on hillsides. And we do have some pretty steep hillsides here in Kentucky. And secondly, no matter what I tow, how I drive, how steep the hill is, or how high...

    Check engine light on again...........

They put a Renegade tranny in a CRD?? How did they do that? The CRD uses a different transmission than all the other Libertys. It's the 545RFE which is heavier duty to handle the extra torque. I didn't know the other tranny would bolt up to it, and even if it did the standard automatic you...

Turbo lag on CRD .. can one improve the response

Supposedly Jeep took measures to drastically reduce turbo lag on the CRD. I sure can't tell it. Mine suffers from lag, particularly when slowing for a red light and then having to get back on the accellerator when it switches to green before a complete stop. They say a smaller turbo will...

Hello, I am looking for a Liberty CRD and need some help

I heard that it will apply to the CRD (the tax break) but the CRD has to be purchased on or after January 1, 2006. #-o

Hello, I am looking for a Liberty CRD and need some help

yeah I agree...the price of everything sucks these days. $25,960 for the CRD, $70/month for insurance, $2.50/gallon for fuel... It sucks. #-o The CRD sure is a nice vehicle though, isn't it?

Hello, I am looking for a Liberty CRD and need some help

Here, gas is $2.69 and diesel is $2.49. So I don't think the "price of diesel" is a reason to scoff at a CRD. I hear a lot of people on various forums talking about the price of diesel. The thing with diesel is, it doesn't fluctuate as much as gasoline. So sometimes it'll be higher...

Cost of an Oil & Filter change on the KJ CRD............

I'm running Mobil 1 5W40 synthetic for better protection in these hot KY summer days. It's $4.88/qt. at Wal*Mart. I use NAPA Gold filters because they are supposedly made by Wix and are better quality than Mopar filters. They are $5.92 which is half the cost of Mopar filters also. I did find...

Hello, I am looking for a Liberty CRD and need some help

You'll love the CRD. The engine is heavy duty and is made by a company owned by Detroit Diesel who has decades of diesel experience. The transmission is from the Ram 2500/3500 truck line so it's heavy duty as well. I'm averaging 24 miles per gallon right now with almost 7,000 miles on it...

Considering a Liberty CRD - Need to Tow a Travel Trailer

I've towed over 2 tons with my CRD and the engine didn't even know the load was back there. The wheelbase was the problem. It felt a bit scary past 60 miles per hour. The drivetrain in these CRDs is rock solid and very heavy duty. It's a shame the wheelbase is keeping these things from being...
