    New To Jeep

Good job getting that unit, great choice, however seeing as you have had an elantra, you will see quite a difference in the fuel economy 2wd notwithstanding. see how it is in a year or so.

Planning to get 2.4 sport/need opinions

I have owned many different trucks over the years, Broncos (3), Lada Niva, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and I can tell you that it is a stange twist that SUV's with smaller engines are still almost as bad as their V8 engined brothers. Even today Fords Ecoboost engine is not performing up to the hype...

Considering purchase of 2004 Liberty. Waht to look for?

Watch for rust around the rear window from the high brake light, rust around the oil and tranny pan and rusty brake lines and fuel lines, rust around the bottom of the doors. The blower motor resistor may not have all speeds working, and if the seats are heated, the heaters may be burnt out...

    Doing some maintenance today :D

The low beam lights on my company 07 new style silverado were also 65 watts, the connectors on that kept melting and now gm has replaced them with 55 watts and has gone back to the old connector, the new one had a different tab. So 27 to 65 is a big leap in heat.

Has anyone tried to sell a Manual KJ

Back in the day, as was pointed out earlier, automatics were extras because they were considered a 'Luxury' item along with AC and powerwindows, heck even power steering and powerbrakes were not that common back in the day. Automatics back then were also not very reliable. Mechanics back then...

CEL flashes 12 times with the key on...

Sorry I did not respond sooner, WHile Chrysler does have a specific scantool, it is not needed to Diagnose alot of the problems with Engine, Chrysler in fact is one of the most generous for scantool makers in providing the bidirectional tests at least up until 2005 when they changed to a...

CEL flashes 12 times with the key on...

Since you already tried to check the CEL for codes, the next step is to plug in a proper scan tool and check the datastream and see if anything comes up, Because you have a CEL that stays on there should be a code generated. It is possible that you have an ecm problem if nothing is shown on the...

    Jeep Ownership after 15months

Hi all, I thought I would chime in with some thoughts of owning this wonderful jeep product. When I was looking for a vehicle Jeep was not even on my wish list. I orginally was looking for a Chevy Blazer but the engine did not give me confidence to continue. From the list to choose I...

Thinking about buying an 03 Jeep Liberty with 170,000 miles for $4,000 (GOOD OR BAD?)

I really like that color, I dont think I have ever seen a Red Liberty before. Being in Michigan, I would really check for rust, look around the tailgate area near the upper brake light, check the oil pan, they really rust good. I agree with two bobs, check the CVI but if you do not know the...

    Obtaing trouble codes

I believe 05 was the last year for the odo check off for obd2 codes, so you will have to access with a scantool, one from crappy tire that goes for 50 bucks will be fine as these read powertrain codes really well, its the other computers that you really need a bi scan tool for.

rear left tail light not working?

Moose, you need to replace the trailer module converter, its what is causing your lights at the front and rear to not work, you probably have a light on in the dash for the turn signal, the fuse which if i remember right is number 10 located in the dash beside the driver is blown, if you...

    Probably stupid question about towing

I forgot to mention earlier, when you get the trailer, try and make sure that you get the proper mirrors for the kj, there is nothing more dangerous than some 'billy big rig' driving down the highway with his, ranger, mazda, or liberty or anything that is very narrow, towing a wide trailer and...

Buying Used KJ - what should I look out for?

Being in Whitby, you are no stranger to the salt encrusted roads of the GTA. Watch for rust around the rear hatch window, and underneath the car, brake and fuel lines etc. Otherwise a good choice.

    Probably stupid question about towing

A horse trailer for two horses, would weigh in at about 8 to 9 hundred pounds, one horse with (Fodder, bedding, tack, and droppings) should come in around 1150 so you only have a ton to tow, that should be no problem for the kj although you will want a trailer brake system to handle the extra...

    Gas Milage

I think one of the main reasons that your mileage is so poor is that you said you use it mostly in the city. I dont think the od gets used much in that case and even if it did the od has nearly 1000 rpm drop, each time you pressed the pedal it would go back up again.

    Low Fuel Light

You missed my point, i was not refering to diesel as garbage but rather it does not require the amount of refining that gasoline does. Diesels can run on non refined fuel, but gasoline cannot, therefore there is no reason for diesel prices to be as high as they are. As for Diesel vs Gasoline...

    Low Fuel Light

speaking of diesel, yesterday i filled up with reg at 1.12 liter, but diesel wait for it was 129.9 liter. Holy cow what is going on, Diesel is just garbage fuel, its the bottom of the barrel with little refining. I know if I was driving a shaker, I would be crying my eyes out.

    Low Fuel Light

when my low fuel light comes on, it still has 15 liters left, almost like a cadillac in not wanting someone to run out of fuel.
