    '03 2.4 burning oil..

Yes it will cause more wear cos the oil is thicker and will take longer to get up to the top of the engine thus leaving the parts drier for longer, thats why multigrade was invented. If you don't want your engine to use any oil at all stick some gear oil in it! So much for "not starting an...

    '03 2.4 burning oil..

Not to start an argument but I would personally stick to the recommended oil and check it more regularly. At that mileage you can excuse it for using a bit. I am not a fan of these "high mileage" oils etc as they are just thicker. The downside is that they don't get to where they should as...

    Serpentine belt 2.4 kj

By the way Rupert, I would advise changing the tensioner while you are doing the belt. I didn't change mine at the time and then spent 2 years trying to find a rattle "underneath" my Jeep that ended up being caused by the belt tensioner!! Doh!! :smokin:

    Serpentine belt 2.4 kj

X2 as above but I was told it was due to "chirping" from belt. There is a link below to give you some idea of lengths etc that maybe the gatorback supplier can cross reference from? There are two lengths which I assume is the standard (longer) one and the shorter (revised) one. I swapped mine...

    Low Rear end when towing

You're welcome. Hehe. You know what they say about rugby - It's a game played by men with odd shaped balls! :happy175: Good luck with the OME stuff. Rear is a piece of cake to do. Ur coffee won't even be cold by the time you are done. Unless you are in the Brecon Beacons and it will be so foggy...

    Low Rear end when towing

Her you go Jez. Measure with the Jeep sat on its wheels on level ground etc. OME springs are arguably the best you can get and without a doubt are better than the original spec stuff but you will need new shocks suited to the OME springs if you get them as the OME springs are a bit longer than...

    Low Rear end when towing

Sorry Jeremy, I was lying to you. It is from the bottom of the metal cup that the bump stop sits in , to the metal plate that it hits at the bottom. Rear ride height is defined by the relative vertical distance between the top of the lower spring seat strike surface and the bottom of the...

    Low Rear end when towing

Hi Jeremy. Welcome to "The Family". Another Brit! Excellent! Hehe. I am pretty sure your springs will be sagged and soggy as they are pretty crap really. The cheapest option is ironically genuine springs as they are only about £35 each but they wont last anywhere near as long as Old Man Emu...

    Libby starts and then dies.

Just chucking ideas about. Have you checked that all the vacuum hoses are on. When a vehicle is cold it needs a richer mixture (Choke) which is all taken care of by fuel injection system nowadays, but if there is a vacuum hose off it may not be getting quite enough fuel to keep it going when...

    Tensioner Pulley Question

X2 As above. That to me sounds extortionate. I put a tensioner a couple or 3 weeks ago. Literally a 10 minute job. My Gates tensioner was about £50 and we normally get shafted over here in the UK for parts. Take the belt off, remove bolt and tensioner. Fit new bolt and tensioner and refit belt...

    OEM Part Find Help, ??cowl??

55155 850AB - I think this is the part number of the original you are looking for. The black cowling under the wipers with the "vents" in. Better get someone to check if you are going to order one but I am pretty sure thats the one. Hope this helps. Steve :smokin:

    Roof lights...............

I didn't say it was not a job well done. I was answering your question about why do I want to drill through the roof! The rest of it was a simple statement explaining how i like to do things. Not to start an argument or to say running wires outside is right or wrong, but I personally would...

anyone replace a front wheel bearing yet?

X2. (If it is the bearing) Just as a heads up and to expand on what Ian said, if it goes quiet on a right turn it is probably the right bearing, which will probably be worse on a left turn as the bearing on the outside wheel of the turn gets loaded up. Not always true but usually. :smokin:
