    Oh goody! U-joints!

I would be doing the "hammer/socket method!" Has worked well enough in the past. I think, for this round, the heavy duty, solid cross, U's are about 60.00 and they will install and balance for $70.00. I figure at least this way I start at zero... Which is my goal, to know EXACTLY what happens to...

Well heck guys, now you all are making me second guess myself! Hmm...

    Oh goody! U-joints!

Looks like I may not be doing the full job. I have to uninstall and install. A driveline shop here in town will tear down, install the U's (spicer 5-1310x) and balance the drive shaft for 130.00. Normally, I'm pretty much a DIY guy, but in this case, I think I'm letting these guys do it. I have...

    Oh goody! U-joints!

No, the clamps on the boot where the drive shaft connects to the trans. No worries though, I found a solution. Easy. Need to be sure I get the correct ones.

    Oh goody! U-joints!

Well... looks like I get to change out some u-joints. Rear drive shaft. I've suspected all along, but after a good highway drive and a closer inspection I'm 99% sure they are shot. Front in particular. The questions I have are part number for the Dana Spicer greasable and the crimp clamps. My...

04 lunging slightly while rolling at idle

Can the 04 version be cleaned like the the older version? Hit it with TB cleaner and wipe until shiny? I may pull the entire TB and go to town? Can't hurt! Is there a specific Trans type of code reader? Or is this a shop only tool (big $$)?

04 lunging slightly while rolling at idle

Tranny codes or engine codes? No CEL. Can I check the tranny codes with my obd2 scanner? I've never had a scannable trans before, that would be very cool. The one thing I haven't done is clean the TB etc. I will do that this weekend. Mine does have the classic intermittent idle stumble as well...

    Respray?

Or, if you feel adventurous, buy a rotary buffer and some good maguires pro product and have yourself some fun! A full rotary buffer can do some damage with a heavy cut polish, an occelating type would be fine too and less possible to cut into the paint.

04 lunging slightly while rolling at idle

Nope... Flat ground, in drive, rolling into position to park. It almost feels like it is trying to scoot. Kinda feels like the brakes are sticking a little, it's difficult to describe.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Freakin' $6.50 each! I'm very tempted to go in and give them a piece of my mind, considering I can by 100 of them for less than half what they charged me! But I know that would be a total waste of time!

What did you do to your jeep today?

Replaced my rear bumper fascia Wed. Just wish I knew about plastic rivets before I dumped STUPID $ on the ones from the dealer. Live and learn... :party52:

04 lunging slightly while rolling at idle

It seems this may be a "tranny characteristic" for Chrysler trannies. When I'm rolling into my garage very slowly at idle (flat) the truck seems to lunge, or slighty lurch a little. Otherwise drives fine, shifts fine, 4wd all works well, the truck will crawl up my (steep) driveway in 4L. This...

    Possible Recall 2002-2007?

1: Try changing out an alternator in a Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute. Brilliant location. 2: Yep rear drums too... Ford. 2002- 3: Yeah, I'll give you this one... BYE

    3.7 characteristics?

Good deal, thanks guys! So far, really liking this Jeep. It is my first so I am learning what it can and can't do!

    3.7 characteristics?

04 3.7-119k. Engine seems strong, smooth (relatively) and feels great. The question I have is how do these motors like to be run? Do they like to be pushed, or kind of babied? Just getting a feel for this truck and how it wants to be driven! Can't wait to get it off the pavement!

    Need new front springs...

Ha! No doubt! And this is precisely why I went with the tried and true option. Sucked up the $$$, got a bit of lift (cool) and a great feeling KJ... there is a point where all the "options" can get out of hand. Then trying to find the zone that is in budget AND worthwhile...(banghead)(banghead)

Rear end knock after Ironman lift

I wonder if it is a valving issue? If the rebound damping is not adequate for the rate of the spring rebound the shock can effectively extend too fast, thus causing a knock at the top of the stroke. This is fairly common on moto forks if the damping is not appropriate for the terrain. Or, same...

    Need new front springs...

You obviously are more concerned with talking about this than actually getting it done. It's been nearly three weeks of this banter and still no conclusion. Wow. Regarding what I was saying, in a nut shell... you have done nothing but argue with Tom and others asking them to support their...

    Help for my lift JBA

I just installed that combo today. I was at 18 front and 18.5 rear, now I am at 20.5 front and 21 rear. Used all other stock parts, alignment went fine, and into spec. Really, as stated, that is only about 1.5 of lift over new stock with no sag. Looks WAY better and rides 100% better. For a...
