Probably a 216 or 235 I6. The rod bearings were "splash lubed" with a low pressure oil system for the most part and had babbitt bearings. The babbit bearings were replaced on a somewhat regular basis - sort of like changing the transmission oil today. Drive them somewhat hard and the babbitt...
Probably meant it "SHOULDN'T" be done. As mentioned by others you install a piston from the top, compressing the rings to feed it in from the bottom sounds like a giant PIA - if its possible but about anything is. If you are going through the ordeal of pulling the engine, the crank and the...
I had a similar experience, the rod bearings were wiped out at 75K miles while the rest of the engine was fine. Replacement engine and install was about $4000.
Mine (when its running) averages 19 MPG with 2/3 highway and 1/3 city driving with every tank of fuel. I know it gets 22 highway so city mileage is around 14-15 MPG. 2005 with 75K and the 3.7.
I don't know what you are looking at. The metal is rusted through in two spots. The rust started on the inside and most likely is across the entire rear of the roof incompassing the 3rd light and the hinges for window. Definately not something you will fix for $20 - $30 unless its a "dealer...
What does running the heater do? On most systems the coolant is constantly running through the heater core no matter what the blend door and fan are set to - is the Liberty different?
The entire assembly off Ebay is only $37.00 to $45.00 depending on the supplier. The dealership unit is around $200 or so isn't it?
When mine failed the cable broke off and the motor quit working the next day.
It has a 3 year 100K warranty for parts and $50 an hour for warranty labor. Basically I'm on the hook for $50 an hour. So, instead of taking it in the shorts in trading it to be someone else's problem its going to cost me about $600 to install a 4th engine. Meanwhile my 25 year old Bronco is...
Typical Dodge product.
The original engine was throwing metal shavings with every oil change. Shop put it in a lift and you could hear the rods knocking from the bottom side of the engine. Tore it down and the rod bearings looked like they 200k+ miles on them - all were scarred and worn...
Decent seats for my Bronco were impossible to find. The ones I had the cloth was worn out and the padding was destroyed. Upholstery shop wanted $200 to fix just the bottom of one seat - and I'd heard their padding doesn't hold up more than a couple of years.
I bought a pair of really nice...
What did you have to do with it keep the front end from falling apart under the abuse of using a plow? Most people on here complain about the springs sagging from normal highway driving.
Ethanol has only been around as auto fuel since autos needed fueling. Its been commonly available in gasoline since the 1970s and early 1980s when lead content was reduced and it was added to boost octane. Any manufacturer that is using products that have a poor interaction with ethanol is...
