Well timing chains has to be out because they would cause the noise all the time, right? Maybe the are out of adjustment and only act up when a load is placed on them ? Thoughts? Ideas?
An overlapping metallic noise that increases in intensity as engine speed increases and diminishes as engine warms up indicates abnormal piston and cylinder wear. Haynes manual.
Anyone know how serious that is? Can I just keep going and dealing with the click if this happens to be it?
The most recent aamco tech said he relearned the tranny and the previous aamco tech cleared the batt codes so well see if any positives arise from this. Anyone think it could be the MAP, TPS, crank or cam shaft sensors?
Yes friends said it sounded like it was in the front of the engine near the v in the engine but it doesn't sound too much like a pulley though. Maybe I can catch a recording of the noise. The pulley seemed fine a few weeks ago when I replaced the serpentine.
I'll try to take vid while driving but it's so quiet it may not even get picked up. Once it is warm it will not click. It may just be a cold weather thing?
Front of the block is where it sounds like it comes from. I can't put it in drive and press the brake and be in front of it, let alone underneath. Wouldn't it rattle all the time if it was a heat shield or bad cat? It only does in drive or reverse with the brake pressed when the vehicle is stopped.
2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7L 4x4 ~127k miles.
After starting up in the morning the jeep will click as I drive it down the road. As I go faster and the vehicle speeds up, the clicking gets faster(not louder that I can tell). As I drive and it warms up it goes away(not sure quite when but...
2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 3.7L V6, ~127k miles.
While in drive or park, not park or neutral, while the brake is pressed a rattling noise is coming from in the engine compartment (or so it seems). I have tried to look it up and some say engine mounts are the problem. Any ideas? Thank you...
Apparently this other aamco says the transmission runs beautifully... I guess I'll just drive it and see how that goes. Today putting seafoam into the gas tank. I'll post results if any.
Getting a second opiniOn on the tranny as well as other issues plaguing it. No luck with stalling yet. Disconnecting the AC compressor didn't help at all...
Running a 2003 kj sport 3.7 l w/ 126k miles. tranny is going bad but how long does the engine it self go for? relatively decent amount of miles? Im going to use this to guage how much I want to spend on the transmission issue. ($2k for rebuild-2 yr warranty and $1300 for used-6month warranty) or...
Check and see if the AC Compressor is bad.. I know it is funny but it could be going bad (like mine and another fellows on a thread we've been posting on regarding stalling) and it could be causing a bit of drag on the engine when the magnetic clutch engages and the compressor is being cycled...
I already disconnected my AC. Just dud the other day because when the magnetic clutch engages and the AC unit pulley runs the compressor it clicks and a technician told me it was bad and if it seized while the magnetic clutch was engaged the idle pulley, that rotates independently from the AC...
