Sorry I've not been on for the past few months. Life and everything!
Recently I've noticed my front tyres have become quite noisy and yesterday while at a cement plant I noticed both front tyres have lost their shape but not through wear. I have the one inch H&R springs all round. The tyres are...
So we have a proper westerly gale blowing in from the Atlantic for a few days. A nice big lumpy one, not the southerly rubbish that blows up from Europe that's all posturing and no balls. Anyway, I was hooning up the motorway this morning, late for work as usual so doing 70mph. There are a...
Not today but yesterday, we had the mother of all flooding. 24 hours of rain on saturated ground that had frozen. There was nowhere for the water to go but run down to the roads. It's not that it was deep, mostly a foot to 18", but it just went on and on for miles. Never known anything like it...
20k Miles update:
Still sitting at 20" all round.
I really can not fault them. They are progressive springs and that's how they ride. I go off road every day and into 4wd minimum of twice a week. Nothing heroic like the Paris-Dakar but very poor tracks, potholed roads, boggy fields and lots of...
Perished and leaking intercooler hoses replaced with BLUE silicone jobbies. Fitter assures me that they will make me a total ***** magnet ( means something different in English ). Also 110k mile oil and filter change, new oil pressure sensor, track rods and track rod ends, rear pads and sliders...
In another lifetime I was on the team who wrote the Tornado deep service manual when it went into service with the RAF. V thorough and no black magic required.
In the UK most of the wranglers seem to have been bought up by butch looking metropolitan ladies who like ladies. Its become a lifestyle accessory. They are too angry to wave.
My rear drivers side tyre blew out on the motorway (freeway/interstate). Had no choice but to change it with artics thundering by. I found a break in the crash barrier so was able to pull mostly on to the grass verge with just enough tarmac underneath to put the poxy jeep jack on. Was an...
I have KYBs up front too, I had KYBs on the back but they gave up the ghost with the H&Rs, Dunno if it was a manufacturing fault or they were too wimpy. I had them refunded and got Bilsteins.
H&Rs are worth every penny. Thoroughly recommend them, esp if combined with standard Bilsteins. 32 average is not bad, means you are getting up towards 40, if not more, once cruising. It's acceleration that drags it down.
Thanks for the clips tip! Yes, this year I will have both sills replaced and will protect and put a regular cleaning regime in place. I need this truck to last as long as possible and am in for the long haul.
My Jeep had its annual MOT. (First one since in my possession) It failed on the UCAs as expected, I had already bought replacements. Otherwise all good APART from discovering the rear sill had completely rusted out! So a big welding bill coming. Seems that the plastic trim is a complete...
Today I had a somewhat unsettling experience, air and fuel filter needed to be changed. A pretty straight forward 15 minute job.
It only took me 15 minutes.
So, in the past 7 days I had a new cam belt and did the oil and filters, then the rear rear U/J went into chronic grindin vibratin omg I think my dif has gone mode. New U/J fitted today, one with a grease nipple to boot and welcome back Dr Smooooooooooooth (ish). In between these two events I...
