    Grabbing brakes

I didn't have much time tonight. But I took off the wheel. The drum came off easily. I did notice the top of the front (leading) brake shoe was not sitting all the way against the top pivot point. It was only coming away from it about a quarter inch. I could push it back in place, but it came...

    Grabbing brakes

The left rear wheel is very hot, compared to the rest. Burnt my hand on the lug nuts! What should I look for? It's has a new wheel cylinder, and all new hardware, including the star wheel adjuster. The wheel skids at a slow speed stop. Seems to be sticking.

    Grabbing brakes

I will feel the wheels after my 12 mile drive to work tomorrow, and see if anyone feels warmer than the others. I replaced both rear brake cylinders as well, as one was leaking a little. I am now thinking that one drum is out of round, causing a shoe to stick in the drum. Thanks for your advice...

    Grabbing brakes

The brakes are very touchy. As it stops suddenly. And they will lock up and skid easily. I checked the front pads for uneven wear, they are fine. I replaced the front brake pads first. Then did the rear brakes a month later. The problem seemed to start, after I replaced the rear brake shoes and...

    Squeaky Front Suspension??

My 02' had a loud squeaking from the left front wheel. I can even feel it through the floor boards. Seems to get worse, after I've driven about 5 miles. I tried spraying silicone spray on the control arm bushings. I will try lubing up the sway bar bushings. The noise was driving me crazy! Glad...

02 Liberty 3.7L Sudden Loss of Brake Pressure

Spongy brakes means there is still air in the lines. You didn't let the master cylinder run dry when you blead the brakes, did you? Otherwise, I am thinking your master cylinder is on it's way out. Also check carefully "everywhere" for a leak at the fittings and lines, both the rubber and steel...

    front brake line replacement

I've been fixing my rusted brake lines on my 2002 for the last few weeks. Someone on another Jeep forum said that they were 3/8 24 NF. But they were incorrect! Because they will leak at the fittings. The threads are metric M10 X 1.0. Both the 3/8 24 and the M10 X 1.0 will screw in to the...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

First off. Everyone on this forum and other Jeep forums, said they were SAE, domestic, or what I call American. 3/8 24 NF. (Except for connections to the master cylinder) which use metric with a bubble flare. I bought both the SAE and Metric lines, see which one fits, and return the other. I...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

Brake line fittings Metric or American? (banghead) I've spent two weeks replacing my rear drum brakes. Busted the left brake line, going to the block mounted on the axle. And I also replaced the flex line attached to the axle. Finally got it all done today. But have a leak with the new line...

    Belt tensioner bolt stripped

Well, I was able to replace my thermostat, after removing one of the pulleys on the tensioner. The Tensioner itself seems to be fine. So I'm leaving that alone for now.. Thank you all for your help!

    How to: Install/Replace 3.7l Waterpump.

Thanks to everyone, I've had no other problems with the overheating. Except I had to replace the radiator shortly afterwords. Found a crack on the plastic side, right below where the upper radiator hose connects. That was a 2 day job for me, as I also replaced the upper, lower hoses, they were...

    Oil Leak?

Sounds like I have the infamous valve cover leak, that many of you have mentioned. Also seems like a real pain to fix... So many parts to take off, just to get the valve cover off! And after replacing the coolant overflow tank, water pump, radiator, thermostat and hoses. Now I have to disconnect...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

I figured out what you meant by the "diff vent hose" when I replaced the flex line, attached to the axle. Strange how they used the differential vent hose, to mount the brake line "block" coupler to the axle... The end of the vent hose, is just clipped up under the body, and mine just has a bolt...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

Need your help Please OK, I brake shoes back on the left side anyway. Stupid mistake on my part. I just a new flex hose, going to the axle. Couldn't get it local, had to buy it online and got it today. The original is so rusted, looks like it will break any day now. I also got a new hard...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

You were correct Just as you said, the brake like broke off at the wheel cylinder. I bought all new hardware, and wheel cylinders. I replaced everything, but still can't get the drums back on! Very little rust ridge on the drums...So I don't think that's the problem. I haven't even replaced...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

I might as well replace the wheel cylinders, and do it right, as someone said... There is also the rubber line going from the body, to the rear axle, that looks pretty bad! The front rubber lines just crumbled in my hands, when I went to replace the front brakes... And the car dealer got it...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

Now that I found the adjusters seized, I ordered new ones, actually the whole kit, for both sides. The shoes themselves are not too bad. I didn't even take the shoes off yet, just the adjuster. I figured I wait to get the adjuster kit, then replace the shoes, do everything at once! I was able to...

HELP with rear drum brake adjuster

I was all set to replace the rear brakes on my "02" this weekend. Got everything I thought I would need. New brake shoes, and hardware kit. But I was not expecting to find them so very rusty, and it appears they were not working at all! The drum came off easily. But the first thing I noticed...

The Official "My Gas Mileage Sucks" Thread
