2003 Liberty 2.4L - Is it possible I have the wrong starter? (SOLVED)

Hey Pyson, I will help translate. There are like 2 universals I hear over and over on car and boat forums: 1- fram filters are **** 2- autozone is the auto parts store equivalent to fram filters. I have gotten plenty from autozone. However, I have had to use their warranty for one of their...

2003 Liberty 2.4L - Is it possible I have the wrong starter? (SOLVED)

I do not know the difference. RockAuto shows the AC for the 2004 and the AB for the 2003 for the 2.4. You need like an old school chrysler parts expert. I don't think you can get anyone at RockAuto on the phone. I cannot wait for you to get this running!

    Front driveshaft

You only need to jack up the drivers side front wheel to be able to turn the prop shaft. You can then shift in and out of 4 high to stop the shaft from turning as you remove bolts. Most the videos online say its held in by 8 mm, but I started to strip a bolt with 8 mm and got better fit from...

    Tail Light

The sockets get so hot they sometimes melt the plastic under them and make the connections not as great. Pull out the new sockets and look at what it looks like underneath. You may need to chip some plastic and raise the metal tab a little. I just replaced my upper sockets too. Mine looks...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Happy New Year! Replaced the top bulb sockets on the rear view lights. 2 $10 dollar dorman parts worth not waiting for the socket to need to be messed with again to get the connections going. I like not giving the popo reasons to pull me over.

Starter problem or something else? (It's two separate issues)

I am optimistic about the cables. It may have been lost in translation but my problem was where the drop from the negative terminal of the battery into the wire just under the insulation. Measuring at the negative terminal was a good bit hires then if I stuck the probe into where the wires was...

Starter problem or something else? (It's two separate issues)

Sounds like time to start testing the fuel pressure and fuel pump. Sorry your troubles are continuing.

Starter problem or something else? (It's two separate issues)

Hate asking someone to do something they already did. In your initial thread you said you checked "continuity". Does this mean you know that there is the same voltage as measured across the positive and negative of the battery as when you measure from the positive wire at the starter to...

Starter problem or something else? (It's two separate issues)

One way to test this would be to take the wires off the starter and then use leads directly to another battery and see if the power when bypassing the Jeeps electrical system is enough to make the starter engage like it should. It would be like bench testing the starter while installed on the...

Starter problem or something else? (It's two separate issues)

Measure with your VOM the voltage along the negative battery wire at the stud, end of the clamp to thee visible wire. Mine did not look bad but was causing voltage drop and I had to replace the clamp and about 3 inches of the negative terminal wire to get rid of my voltage drop. I ended up...

Gear oil when removed propeller shaft

So I had a 19 inch detroit axle new prop shaft to install that I picked up brand new off craigslist cheap when I first got the Liberty, before reading here about how to measure. Yup mine does not take a 19 so I plan to rebuild my rear cv (boot is going). I will send it to anyone needing a 19...

Gear oil when removed propeller shaft

I pulled the propeller shaft to replace the starter. When I pulled the front of the shaft out there was some gear oil behind it. Actually started to drip once I removed a couple of the bolts. Not a lot, maybe an ounce. Is this normal or does this mean I have a pinion seal leak? The good...

    2006 Liberty

I had to re-open mine. Jeep would not start, but this time it was the wires on the starter needing to be cleaned and re-connected. I did start looking at the ignition pin since I just replaced, but found it intact. Anyway ... here are the correct torx -- what I wrote above is wrong...

2006 Liberty Front End Howl - Not a wheel bearing

When I replaced my front bearing to fix the noise I was 100% convinced I had the correct side -- until I replaced it and the noise did not go away and had to replace the other side. How many miles? The wheel bearings are a maintenance item in my opinion, and I would not totally rule out that...

    2006 Liberty

I have no experience with BBB or small claims court. Sorry I cannot help there. I just did this repair. On craigslist under autoparts search "Liberty" and try to find someone parting out a liberty. Or call local junk yards. Tell them you need the steering column cover for a Liberty...

    My Liberty was hit today

I am glad you are OK. That is number 1. Unfortunately, even if insurance gives you a good chunk of money, I do not think Jeep really has a replacement for the Liberty in their current line up.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Put on a set of Mastercraft Stratus APs, made by Cooper. They are not full AT tires, but have a more beefy tread than a standard light truck tire. I have good hopes for them being a nice tire for the Jeep, given that all the 4 wheeling this jeep sees is up boat launch ramps and bad weather.
