    AC recharge

Well, he may not have needed to evac the system if he still had a reasonable amount of pressure in it to begin with - he didn't state one way or another - but from the sound of it looks like it was bled down completely for the compressor to act like that. Other steps I agree with - if the...

    In-Radiator Tranny Cooler AND Standalone?

I had the same dilemma on my 05 CRD - so much junk under the hood the way they shoehorned that diesel in there, plus an intercooler, and most likely not having the option of using a gasser radiator due to the different plumbing configuration on that diesel. What I ended up doing was using a...

    In-Radiator Tranny Cooler AND Standalone?

That is one of the blessings of having a CRD - the 545RFE tranny behind that diesel - but then Chrysler had to go muck it up and put a weak-kneed gasser torque converter with an entirely wrong stall speed in it.:favorites68: The CRD's with the 545RFE ended up with a combination air cooled...

    Rear Differential

If you've got the VIN number handy, I'd imagine you can check one of Chrysler's or Jeep's websites or call a dealer service rep, and they can tell you whether or not your vehicle was built with an open or limited slip diff - I know you can go to the Jeep website, punch in your VIN number, and it...

Your scariest moments driving your Liberty.

The Goodyear Wrangler S/T's that came on my 05 weren't any better - matter of fact they're actually rated worse than the SRA's on tirerack's customer reviews. May of 07 I was visiting my friends south of Austin for their daughter's HS graduation. Only had 22K on the stock S/T's. We were going...

    Reducing Body Roll

As long as the spare is the same effective diameter, shouldn't be a problem - ie, check the specs to be sure - but the reason I went with 245/70's is that they're essentially the same diameter as 225/75's - so I didn't have to pop for a fifth tire as a spare. You can go to tirerack.com and...

Your scariest moments driving your Liberty.

WHOA!!! You're bloody lucky that thing didn't fly up and catch you right in the windshield! Ever see the "Mythbusters" episode where they tested to see what kind of damage one of those shredded belts can do at speed? Not only went thru the windshield like it was butter, but easily decapitated...

    Wheel bearing Cost Question

Tell me about it. My friend in Charlotte, just for giggles, priced out what my recent shock replacement would have cost if I'd tried buying the factory front strut assemblies and rear shocks from Chrysler - over $1000 just for parts!! For that price, you could easily do a complete OME setup, new...

Your scariest moments driving your Liberty.

Heading up I-35 North last year from San Antonio to my friend's just south of Austin. I'm doing 70 mph in the middle lane, very little other traffic around thankfully. Here comes a guy in a pickup in the fast lane, blowing by me like I'm standing still. When not even 3 car lengths ahead of me...

    Wheel bearing Cost Question

You don't want to know what a Chrysler dealer ANYWHERE charges for ANYTHING!!! Here in the U.S., after the bankruptcy/Fiat deal, parts prices went up across the board by 30% or better. The V6 nylon fan blade I recently put on my CRD? I picked it up last year for $55. Dealers are now wanting...

Swapped V6 Fan for CRD Metal Fan

Here's the writeup I did last year on replacing just the fan clutch itself - http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46274

Swapped V6 Fan for CRD Metal Fan

No issues with the nylon fan at all. Ranger1 mentioned there was at least still 2 inches between the fan and radiator, that it "looked" closer - on mine, seems to be no difference in distance between fan and radiator, only measureable difference is an extra 1/4" of clearance between the back...

    Wondering about Front Diff

Well, the CRD is getting some remarkable fuel mileage after all the work/upgrades - front end alignment, new Michelin LTX tires, brake rotors turned and new Bendix pads, new shocks/struts and front bushings, new rear upper suspension arm, new bearings and seals rear diff and new rear axle...

    Reducing Body Roll

If everything is still stock, including the shocks and tires, lots of things you can do (and should look at) before contemplating stuff like trick sway bars. Like you, mine is presently a on-highway daily driver (an 05 CRD Sport). If you still have the skinny 225/75/16 tires (minivan tires...

Who makes the best heavy duty diff cover?

Drain plug is a standard feature on PML's tranny pans. They also include an extra boss, that you can have them drill and tap or DIY, to install a tranny temp sensor. I know of several CRD owners that have installed the deep version of their tranny pan for the 545RFE, had to add some serious...

Who makes the best heavy duty diff cover?

I'm interested in the PML cover mainly for the extra oil capacity and potential cooling ability to keep that rear diff healthy and happy. Might be because I just had to have the rear diff rebuilt because one of the carrier bearings ate itself after only 60K miles. Right now the KJ is my...

    05 KJ problems :/

Agreed. I had an '04 Dakota for about a year, with the 4.7 V8, and it did exactly that. My guess is because they had the PCV valve tied into the oil fill tube just below the cap - thus pulling all the combustion gases/air/moisture up under the cap on its way out of the crankcase - and the water...

    05 KJ problems :/

OUCH!!! In agreement with those above - 3.7 L V6 has aluminum heads, and if you overheat the engine you can end up warping the heads and causing internal coolant leaks. I've seen reports of people overheating and warping the heads from just using the wrong viscosity oil.
