I have to ask... why HOAT and not reg. antifreeze
Just to clarify: G05 coolant IS ethylene glycol based. The only alternative is propylene glycol, which is only used in a very few brands. HOAT refers to the additive package (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology), not the base fluid.- belvedere

13mpg normal?
Our 25 mpg was a best for us. It was when we were on vacation a couple years back. We've seen up to 25 mpg on the highway in our 06 Sport 3.7/auto/4x4. Typical hwy mpg is probably closer to 22. Driving habits make a huge difference. 5w30 to 5w40
You could certainly run the 5W40, and it may not be ideal (maybe slightly less mpg), but sure wouldn't hurt anything. If you feel uneasy about it, run it in the warmer months, or mix it 50/50 with 5W30 and run it year-round. In the end, do what makes you comfortable. When you ask a question...- belvedere

rebuilt tranny problems
TwoBobs is absolutely correct: the wrong fluid in a Chrysler trans can definitely cause problems. If he didn't use ATF+4 (Dexron + a "fluid converter" is NOT acceptable), a complete fluid change is in order. Sounds like he isn't too knowledgeable about Chrysler trannies.- belvedere
