Tensioner Replacement
Hi tjkj2002, fine, I assume it's a matter of preferences. In fact I only use those 12 points which in reality are '12 domes', don't know if I'm explaining myself, and have this 'special' shape to prevent denting bolts. Also, my 6 points have 'wider corners' to prevent rounding off the bolt...- diyman

OK everybody, just do as You like, BUT : bolt is 1/2 inch, 13 mm??? Don't think so... I used a 1/2 polygonal ( aka 12 points, but mine's are a bit rounded so they won't dent anything), bolt was seated in hard, but managed to break it loose without even a scratch... I think the dealership has me confused.

I'm back. Task executed! Report: Spark plugs ( not OE set ) surely had better days - replaced IAC (never unmounted before) was a read 'sludged coalmine' - cleaned Re-applied a tiny bit of soft thread locker onto the T-20 torx screw. Outcome: Engine starts with NO hesitation...- diyman

Yes, it does get a bit better. Seafoam, here, in Peoples's Republic of Venezuela?? :happy175: Only can get some sort of sprayable carburetor cleaner many apply throught the intake duct.... About the one plug gone bad, yes, maybe, but shouldn't that also set a misfire DTC?- diyman

Thanks tjkj2002, much clearer now :) Then, I guess, if using proper ATF+4 but still willing to drain and fill, one could even think of filtering it and putting it back into tcase, just adding what's missing in order to complete the fill... Just the thought of refilling with black, stinky...- diyman

Thanks LibertyTC, I will try that ASAP! :) No, No codes. I'm always checking that, even if MIL is off. In fact, many DTCs don't illuminate the MIL and are accessible by a (good) scanner only, I know. Spark plugs are NGKs made in France, only 18k on them, but I'll try cleaning first. Coils...- diyman

Fine, tjkj2002, agreed. 6000 miles no issue, I might even go for a ' at every oil change'. I'm a bit confused anyway. I know gear oil is not atf/dex oil, but, if I haven't got it wrong, You maintain syn gear oils last even less than dinos, unlike engine oils... So how does an atf/dex perform if...- diyman

Xfer case fluid change is possibly the easiest job to do!! IMHO easyer than an oil change!! Easy and cheap, well cheap to me as I'm using DEXIII (damn cheap here) but over there I guess ATF+4 (as everyone knows any brand will do) ain't that expensive... About to buy a Jeep Liberty.
Hi bmrrwolfe! I had that of the sagging coils happen to me last year ( one of my first posts ) . From my logbook '2010-Jan-25 km 62800 front coils changed'. It was just 1 In, but driveability was impaired and struts were unhappy.. OE were made here in Venezuela ( they aren't all that bad...- diyman

No, I guess one has to change the whole hub/bearing assembly as a whole. 52128692AE - Right 52128693AE - Left But one can always try to remove the bearing from the old hub... who knows.- diyman

Transmission issue, help before dawn !
About the relay and fuse, there's a reason. According to the FSM the solenoid pack, which apparently includes most sensors, has only 1 (one) wire, positive, which comes from the fuse/relays box. If supply becomes intermittent due to oxidation, then performance of the whole pack might as well be...- diyman

Thanks JeepJeeepster. Year is '05, according to VIN (remember, vehicles NOT assembled in Toledo). Anyway, some updates. A bit of contact cleaner on fuse #5 and EATX contacts did a lot. All solenoid pack codes GONE. A Diag Code mentioning an incorrect gear ratio was still present, but went away...- diyman
