It will be much easier to swap all of your 4x2 components into the doner 4x4 vehicle.
About the "electronics" question
I thought that 4-Lo reporgramed the ABS system to be less intrusive and throttle control to be much more sensitive... So even though there is no electrical -...
At least you've got a garage to keep most of the froozen rain off your KJ! I can't imagine what Friday morning will look like for your area after the 12+ inches of snow fall (again)...
Global Warming... LOL
A buddy of mine has also successfully used the "defroster repair" glue with great success. From what he told me, the glue has copper in it to help reconnect the circuit.
Typicaly R&R on an engine should be around $5000.0+ if you are paying out of your pocket. Time taken for the job depends on where you go and how much quality you want to pay for.
Without receipts of all maintanence of the vehicle, you might have to cover a portion of the cost for the...
Better start looking for bearing issues or a stuck rear caliper. Also make sure all your differentials, transmission and TC have the proper lubrication in them. Lastly - double check your alignment.
The KJ should coast a good deal from 70MPH.
The bad design you refer to is in reference to the positioning of the rings on the pistons I assume. If this is truly what you refer to, than we need to clarify slightly. The design is bad from a power adder standpoint. Inducing any boost pressure into the cylinder head can cause breakage...
To keep this on topic: Please review my comments on "what to look for" when shopping for a Liberty [KJ only / I know not of the KK]

I don't have the mileage racked up like some of the guys but I do have 8 years of uninterrupted dependable usage out of the KJ in a city...
The Top Speed to SHIFT into / out of 4-high is 55MPH. Only use the 4WD system when there is enough snow / dirt on the road surface to allow for the front wheels to slip. You should never engage 4-Hi to drive on rainy roads. If you need 4WD for snowy roads - chances are you shouldn't be...
My steering wheel is all jacked to h@!!. Must be from winter + boating plus the constant abuse of me putting leather care products on it.
I plan to leave it alone. Just adds a cow like character to my interior.
I think I would be over prepaired and have 2 each per side.. They can't be too expensive if you buy a standard washer. I would be looking for a zinc coated or stainless washer to keep the rusting to a minium.
I would think Bilstien shocks would really only work on the Stock ride height vehicle. Unless you were planning on ordering their offroad variants?
I'm getting Bilstien for my Stock KJ and hope for a "it's rides great" improvement. :)
I bought this Jeep Storage Bag from JPARTs for less than $20.00. Tossed the tire key in the bag and velcroed it to the back of my rear seat.
No more rattle.
A KJ without a muffler is not going to sound like a 100K + speedboat running down the waterway on plane.
Rapid cooling of disimilar metals just seems like a bad idea when it comes to engine parts.
I forget when I purchased the KJ... It's been 7 years? maybe 8 now? I don't remember.
Anyway all stock minus the replaceable wear and tear items and it's still running like a champ.
I think the driveline will outlive the body
People don't get the recalls completed becuase they hate their local dealerships. The great part about this guy is that... if something does happen - the dealer will have no record of any recall being performed and that guy will not be able to sue UAW motors.
Tow Ratings (from the factory)
Auto Transmission W/O Tow package = 3500 pounds
Auto Transmission W/ Tow package = 5000 pounds [when properly equipped]
Manual Transmission = 3500 pounds
I've towed plenty in my KJ and must tell you that once you get over 2000 pounds a trailer brake becomes a...
