I dont see any other leaks anywhere except from the pan/ engine where they join. I will go through and do another check, its just that side of the pan was wet with blowby and I am not smelling burnt oil as if the valve cover was leaking onto the exhaust manifold. I plan on researching some more...
Good idea! I have thought about that too cause it was originally a PA car and while it was taken care of has hardly any rust (underneath was far more rust free than I expected when I looked at it when I bought it) I doubt that part of the engine was getting washed free of rust.
Definitely...
When I was changing the oil on my wife's libby I noticed that there was some blow by oil residue on the bottom of the oil pan and transmission bell housing. So I inspected and found the culprit I believe. On the rear driver's side of the oil pan I see that it is wet up at the top where it mounts...
Gotcha. OK that makes sense. Wasnt sure if he had somehow managed to squeeze one of the 3.2's in there through tons of fabrication.
Thanks for the clarification tommudd!
@ the_dealer, are you running the stock SRT-6 motor? If so that is the same motor that was in the SLK32 and C32 AMG models. I had a C32. Stock my motor was running 14lbs of boost. Had a custom cut supercharger pulley made and it was running around 18lbs of boost, stock injectors without issue...
Id love to have your mileage lol. I am bringing her up to par for my maintenance requirements, previous owner did the minimum I think. She is clean and was well cared for but I think they waited til it needed to be addressed instead of addressing it as preventative measure as I do. When I drive...
When I first got the libby she was around 14-15m pg hwy. Best I have managed to squeeze out of her so far was 18.5mpg running on ethanol free gas and in the mountains here between TN and NC. I would like to get her closer to 20 though.
I feel like the wife gets better mileage when she drives...
Saturday the libby had fresh diff fluid put in. I was a bit nervous at what I would find since when I did the transfer case the fluid inside was black and it was also low. The fluid from both diffs looked pretty clean and relatively fresh. I have had her about 8000 miles so it wasnt the freshest...
I agree with tjkj2002, start at the t-stat. And get an OEM one. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one over the Christmas holidays and put about 2000 miles on it without issue. While I was out of town for work my wife called me and told me the check engine light was on and I had her pull the...
Changed the oil and transfer case fluid yesterday. I dont think the T-case fluid was changed in a bit. I have only had the jeep about 8000 miles.
The fluid that came out was black. It didnt smell burnt, but it wasnt pretty looking. Put new fluid in and on the next oil change I am going to...
Good deal! Thanks guys. I am going to have to go check it out for sure once I get all settled in and get some free time. Take the wife out for a spin and get her jeep a little dirty
Just relocated to the Tri-cities area for work and was seeing if anyone from the forums was in or around this area as well. Any good places to take the libby for a little offroading?
What I am curious about is why it is only doing it for 1/2 of a tank. I would think that anything mechanically in the engine would happen all the time not just based on where the fuel level is.
Have you tried running any ethanol free gas through it just to see if after a couple tanks it goes...
I mean they were firestone mechanics. Not all of them are bad but I have dealt with some that were not very good at the whole mechanic thing. There are some people out there that are just not good at diagnosis and then again there are some places that just like to prey upon people without...
Yesterday I swapped out the coils with known good coils and cleared the code and drove it around town to do some errands. I also bought some injector cleaner and put that in the tank. I haven't had the codes come back up. I will keep an eye on it and hopefully it wont come back.
Thanks for...
The first thing I plan to do in the morning is swap out those coil packs and see what happens. Cheapest and easiest thing to do since I still have the old ones.
Thanks
Andrew
I saw that a few people suggested the battery connections when I was doing some more research. A couple weeks ago when I was changing the thermostat due to a "engine cold for too long" code due to a aftermarket thermo, I disconnected the battery while I was working on it. So possible that maybe...
Need to find someone in the Lehigh Valley/Easton area that is reliable or specializes in Jeeps. If I cant get a cyclinder misfire code resolved myself I will need to get it looked at ASAP.
Thanks
Andrew
Driving back from Philly tonight and about 20 minutes from the house the check engine light blinked 4 times and then stayed on. Got home and checked the codes and I am getting the following:
P0300- misfire multiple cylinders
P0303- misfire cylinder 3
P0306- misfire cylinder 6
I did a quick...
