    Maintenance Advice

You are correct in that I want to do the maintenance while I am still home since I won't have the tools or the facility down in GA. And locking gas cap & locking lugs have already been installed - one step ahead! Thanks for the advice guys, I think I am going to do everything that I can now...

    Maintenance Advice

Hey All- So here is my dilemma: My 06 KJ has just passed 18K miles and has no issues at this point. I am moving to Atlanta in early May which will be about a 900-1K mile drive from New York. Since I am moving there to go to school, I want the KJ to be as worry free maintenance-wise as...

Gotta have some window regulator stuff...

Wish I could answer you question...I just thought I'd chime in to say that I am also having window regulator issues as well - with my driver's side rear window. At the dealer right now waiting for it to be fixed, should still be under warranty. Good luck! I'm curious to know how many others...

    HAMs with KJs

I'm a Ham, I installed a mobile rig in my KJ about 2 years ago. I have a Yaesu FT-7800R with a faceplate separation kit, so I mounted the faceplate in the small cut-out space next to the cig-lighter (underneath the climate control panel). This space is really nice as it sits in the cut-out and...

    fuel overflow

Ha another fine example of how helpful the dealerships are. Man, you just can't rely on them for anything... I guess I'll have to try slowing the pump down towards the end to see if that helps or maybe try not inserting the nozzle into the filler neck as far.

    fuel overflow

06 KJ here and have had this now happen to me for the past 2 fill-ups, but it never really happened before, only once I can recall in 2 years. I am wondering if it has something to do with temp since it's been 30's and below for the last 2 weeks. I am going to try and anticipate the overflow...

    Winter driving

I bought a second set of 17" Alloy rims last year and put a set of Bridgestone Blizzak's on them for the winter season. The Libby in 4WD handles flawlessly with these and even has decent traction in 2WD when I'm in the driveway getting ready to switch it over. We don't get an enormous amount...

OK, Who Got Their First Snow?

We had a dusting at around 1 inch on Saturday night down on Long Island. I took the jeep out to play a little bit since I just re-mounted the 17" Blizzak's and man it was fun! I love snow tires :-)

    Brake Rotors Done at 16K?

Actually I bought her brand new exactly two years ago when 07's were rolling onto the lots and 06's were going for a steal, so she's only two years old with 16K. Though I see what you're saying, perhaps the vehicle sitting on the lot for so long prior to me buying her contributed. Plus with my...

    Brake Rotors Done at 16K?

Thanks for the replies guys. For the record, I don't think that I've been abnormally tough on the brakes and am definitely not the kind of driver that rides the brakes on the highway or taps them constantly (no more than is necessary in NY stop & go traffic). In fact, I go out of my way to...

    gas pressure problem

My guess is it has something to do with the filler flap that is down the fill tube that prevents someone from siphoning any fuel out of the tank through the fill tube. I've read of other people with this problem, though I've never had it myself, so I'm sure they can point out what the solution...

    Brake Rotors Done at 16K?

Hey All- So I brought by KJ in for its annual NY State inspection on Saturday and I got a call from my mechanic that she needed brakes and rotors all around. I was quite surprised by this since I've only got about 16K on the jeep. Though I've not exactly been easy on the brakes in stop & go...

    Shout out from Long Island

Sure Queens counts, close enough ;-) Have you guys ever done any of the routine maintenance on your KJ's, i.e. spark plugs, t-case transmission & differential fluid changes? I'm thinking of doing these, but would definitely like to have some help doing them for the first time. It would make...

My Jeep is Broke Could use help

Hmmm I wonder if you should check your coolant level as well as the hose going to the reservoir (or anything you moved related to coolant/hoses), is it possible it is leaking coolant that is getting burned off on the hot surface of the engine?

My Jeep is Broke Could use help

Well, I changed my oil about two weeks ago (5Q Mobil1 5W-30 & Purolator PureOne filter) and I spilled a little bit of oil onto the engine manifold when pouring it into the fill spout because I'm just clumsy. It wasn't a lot and I mopped as much of it off of the engine as I could using a rag...

anyone else had this problem with noise?

I'm sure someone else with more experience can chime in, but when you say roaring it hit me, are you sure it isn't the fan placed behind the radiator? Perhaps it is kicking in for short periods of time to cool down the radiator/engine. Also, is your A/C on?

Just curious if anyone else is a KJ owner on Long Island. Anyone around here do any wrenching on their jeeps?

    Dirty Rear Wheels Only?

Hi Everyone- To preface this, I just cleaned all of the wheels about a month and a half or so ago and the front wheels look almost as clean as they did back then. On a recent road trip for work, I drove the Libby about 400 miles each week for two weeks. I noticed that towards the end of the...

    KJ Jacking Points

For the rear, I have always jacked it up right from underneath the differential and supported it with jack stands on either side underneath the axle. For the front, I have always used the cross-member and had no problem. Was always nervous about using the control arms, and the cross-member...

    Used KJ Price Opinion

Hi All- Went to a Chrysler dealer's used car lot today to price an '05 KJ for my brother with 38K miles. All in all, the truck looks to be in good shape, minus a few scratches. It will definitely need tires within the next 5K miles or so, but other than that, looks pretty nice and has some...
