KJ owner gets the "Jeep wave"!

We got about 19" of new snow yesterday, cold fluffy snow so I could deal with it. Destination LEs in the stock size and not lifted. I could have used the lift kit last Saturday - 20" of wet, heavy snow required ground clearance that I don't have. Just checked the news, they said 23" in...

KJ owner gets the "Jeep wave"!

Happened to me tonight, driving in the snow. Other Jeep was a Cherokee. Sort of by default. LOL! Or maybe it was just a friendly wave? We were the only 2 vehicles on the road other than snow clearing equipment. It's a snow emergency phase III, we were not even supposed to be driving. We...

Great Safety Concern With 2006 Liberty, Traction Control Behavior

That is normal, I encountered it all of the time with the Wrangler STs. Especially if the Jeep is not going straight or the road is bumpy. Almost never with my current tires. (Firestone Destination LE) Also make sure your tire pressures are good. It is really the traction control portion of...

Glad KJ's have a throttle cable!

I never wanted to drive around in a Asian car wondering what is wrong with the economy. Remember the bumper sticker? - "Hungry? Eat Your Import"

    clunk clunk

What about normal rear end gear lash and the auto trans shifting up as you let off the gas? I get that. Chrysler rear ends have always had a lot of gear lash. (play)

Misfire, lose of power, wont rev past 3,000

Can the coil be checked with an ohmeter? (as I look for my Haynes manual) Answer is yes but the trick would be trying to catch an intermittent failure.

Misfire, lose of power, wont rev past 3,000

Oh, did I say unlikely? I meant unlucky! :) I was speaking hypothetically without experience to call on. I did not know that about Nissans. Thanks for the info. I just realized that it's been about 16 years since I last turned wrenches for a paycheck. Time flies.

Misfire, lose of power, wont rev past 3,000

And I would be suspicous of the real mileage on that vehicle. What was the condition of the coolant, did it overheat? Water pump and radiator at 85K? Really?

Misfire, lose of power, wont rev past 3,000

Well if you don't know how old the plugs are, they are probably original. Start with that. Multiple coil failures are unlikely.

Misfire, lose of power, wont rev past 3,000

Could be heat related coil failure but what about the computer being in closed loop until the engine warms up - sensor failure?

    Remove a wheel lock

It's not that hard. When I was doing tires, on some days it seemed like 1 out of 3 customers didn't have their wheel lock keys - it barely slowed us down.

    Fog Light Options

I put mine in, factory kit for lights in the grill. Works fine, plenty of light, especially for their size. I like them a lot. Remember that these are fog lights with a low wide beam. Driving lights have a long thin beam. The best place for fog lights is as low and wide as possible like the...

    Yikes!!

Aren't the balljoints conditional with sloppy conditions? I thought that it wasn't the balljoint itself but the seal. I had a friend who did very little to his in 7 1/2 years and 197,000 miles. Oil changes, tune ups and 1 CV joint.

Exactly! Snap On makes a tool too.

Is this rusty........ or not ?

It's only cosmetic. The surface rust is a protectant all by itself. Just paint it. When I worked on Chrysler products in the mid to late 70's cars and trucks would look like that new on the lot. If the customer bothered to look, they wanted the undercoating.

    Just wanted an oil change...

You have to remember that a shop gains nothing by doing stuff half-assed to keep the price down. And they need to warranty their work. If you mess it up in your driveway, you just do it again.

    OEM cooling system fan upgrade?

Does the electric fan stay mounted? Does the shroud get changed?
