    metric brake fittings?

I just saw that the hose fittings on the 2003 Liberty are metric, m10. I bought 3/8-24, the same as I always use on American cars. Are they the same? Help!

    Rear brake hose question

I am planning to replace the rear brake hose (from frame to differential vent), since it looks fairly rusty at the frame end. Anything to watch out for on this job? I expect the lines will come out of the block ok, since they look good. The hose looks fine, except for the crimp at the one end...

    not charging

Thanks, it was the alternator that failed. Easy to replace on these vehicles. I torqued the bolts as specified in the service manual, however, I just snugged the cable lug. The manual stated 115 in lbs, but I didn't think it needed to be that tight. New alternator has a lockwasher on the stud...

    not charging

My son's 2003 Liberty has the battery light on, and I checked voltage with engine running, 11.5. I'm guessing alternator. Original alternator, with 125k miles. I understand the regulator isn't in the alternator? Looks like the 136 amp one, from the pictures I've seen, the back is gray...

    overfill 42RLE

I checked the level tonight after a half hour drive and it's just a hair above the top dot, so all is well. But if anyone is wondering about extra fluid in the 42RLE, there are posts on more than one forum where people insist that a quart over doesn't bother these transmissions. However, I am...

    overfill 42RLE

I agree, but saw several posts saying the opposite is true for the 42RLE and I was curious. Supposedly off-roaders do this to keep the sump from sucking air or something.

    overfill 42RLE

Am I understanding correctly that a little over fill of ATF+4 in the 42RLE is ok, actually a good thing? I replaced a section of trans line last night, and had to top off fluid this morning. Only had time to go around the block a couple of times, not even a mile, but did idle for a while, total...

transmission cooler lines - upgraded connector?

I bought both new steel lines (Mopar) for my son's '03 Liberty 3.7L automatic. Transmission fittings are the same, but the other end, where it connects to the cooler is a push-on, like a fuel line connector. I believe the original is different, maybe clamped on. Do these just push on (direct...

2003 Liberty - starter solenoid wire

Had solenoid wire fail at starter (push-on) connector. Corroded copper, nothing left but green powder in the terminal. Ordered some new ones (TE Connectivity/Amp brand Positive Lock). Easy enough fix, reminds me of the Ford type from mid 90's. Plug part numbers for anyone in need: 172320-2...

    Rear brake line 52128305AB

I may be wrong on that part number....does anyone have the diagram for a 2003 Liberty 3.7L automatic 4WD with ABS? Thanks!

    Rear brake line 52128305AB

2003 Liberty just sprung a brake fluid leak back where it was apparently repaired by the previous owner (flared and union'ed about the center of the vehicle). I replaced the rusted section, but would feel better replacing the entire line from the HCU, (guess that is the hydraulic control unit)...

transmission cooler lines for 2003 Liberty, 3.7L

Are trans lines available anywhere for a 2003 Liberty? I spotted a small leak at one of the plastic clips that support the lines, rust prone area. It's just weeping, a drop or so, but I know it'll get worse eventually. Or does anyone have the Mopar part number for the OEM lines? Thanks!

    power steering cooler - bypassed

I was just working on my son's 2003 Liberty Limited and noticed a couple of hoses were disconnected. Apparently, someone bypassed the power steering cooler. Was the cooler an option? He uses the Jeep for work, maybe 25 miles each way, and it doesn't see much long distance travel. I suspect...

    Help! lug nut sheared off

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am having the stud drilled and replaced. Bought Dorman solid lugnuts, they look much more durable (even though made in China).

    Help! lug nut sheared off

New member....my son's Jeep Liberty w/alloy wheels..we had tires put on and the installer used impact. Took 250 ft lbs to remove one nut. One just sheared off, leaving the tapered part of the nut in the hole. Getting it inspected soon, so need to fix asap. What would be the best or easiest fix...
