well i was gonna give you links to the wiki which explained it all quite nicely but some jack hole moron screwed up the jeep liberty page and erased all the american automatic versions of the libby transmission cept the 45RLE. if you go back about 4 versions in the history you can dig your way...- o8k

Selec-Trac Prevalence?
Im under the impression that it was totaly random, despite the fact that certain models where supposed to have it for sure or not... when i went shopping for my used LIBBY i would always look on the 4wd handle for 4 positions vs just 3, and if i couldnt tell from the photos, i would ask...- o8k

my dealer needs a "scope" to analyze turbo
CRD's have the VGT (variable geometry turbo) This, as in VW's typically means no wast gate. However w/ the CRDs im not entirely sure. My VW had a similar problem, there was a hose that ran to the egr which busted all the time and liked to whistle. IT took 3 replacements to get it to stop...- o8k

i wish i could stiffen up the rear flex and let the front work a little more, front stays unmoved most of the time while the rear bobbles about down the trail, darn IFS!!!- o8k

Patriot Review
Well however ya dice it, back way to crown king is not an easy trail for most stock vehilces. Without good spoting, i would have dmged my tranny pan ect ect for sure. So whoever said 75% driver, 25% vehicle is right on, but in my case 75% spotter :D Not to mention i completely annihilated my...- o8k

a cheap and dirty solution, buy a mopar one and weld some thick metal over the top of it (taking care not to cover the screw holes :D) and then just put it on.... hrm... wonder where i can get sheets of 1/4" steel....- o8k

unfortunately this tinfoil excuse for a skid is all the world offers these days, i think all j had a uber beefy one like my tranny skid but it seems to be no more.... I have a new one on order.
