    Antenna X

Not that it's any big deal, but I'm curious how well it picks up stations, particularly in the outlying areas.

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

Don't know. You may be the test case. To start with, there are at least 2 EVIC's for the 3.7 Liberty: 1) Homelink with TPMS (tire Pressure Monitoring System). and 2) Homelink/no TPMS (and possibly, 3) no Homelink). You should get the current part numbers from the dealer AND also for the...

    Skid plates

I saw some at NAPA auto parts -- package of 4 for about $5 (10mm size -- about right for skids).

HOW TO: Install an EVIC or OTIS (overhead computer)

It will not. An alternate way to get a temp reading is from a Gentex mirror. Many of them have outside temp and/or direction. That way you can use a variety of EVIC models and still get OAT. As a bonus, you get two displays concurrently!

    RB4 Nav/Radio question

clock The RB1 did the same thing until the most recent nav disk incorporated a firmware change to make the clock display prominently when the system is off (when the system is on, however, the clock is relegated to a tiny unreadable square). So it seemed to be a design fault. I don't know...

    Speed control issue

speed Please forgive me if I'm missing something obvious here but, what does the speedometer read after you set the cc to 72? Presumably it's giving you some hint that you're speeding up?? If so, it may be better not to use the cc until the dealer repairs it. Otherwise it could get to be a...

Latest Gas Mileage report... almost 3K miles on my '05 now.

MPG I recently raised the tire pressure from 35 to 40 PSI. It seems to yield close to 1MPG improvement (about 4 cents/$ or 10 cents/gal). With 18M miles, am now getting about 21.5 actual MPG overall (actual calculation + odometer correction). Being able to use 5th gear at low RPM makes a...

I just weighed my tires and wheels

Wheel weight As I recall, switching from 615/75-16 w/ steel rims to 235/70 w/ Renegade rims there was a loss of about 2# per wheel. The aluminum more than ofset the heavier (Goodyear) tires. Interestingly, wheel/tire weight affects the vehicle more than chassis weight because the wheels...

    Tire Pressure display

Re: EVIC I just went through this -- bought 4 and programmed them. The Evic then called for a fifth which I didn't have. So the system still wouldn't come on line. Tried to get the Chrysler technician to reprogram for 4 -- he hadn't a clue how to do this! My spare is a steel wheel; so any...

    RB1 and RB4

The computer maps your route, but you can put in parameters (quickest route, max freeways, avoid freeways, etc.) You can also avoid closed roads, etc. It usually gives you the best route, but not always. It does not account for traffic, detours, etc. The latest software likes to keep you on...

Help, I'm being drawn to the Dark Side...

Gosh, if you need to haul a lot of stuff around, maybe you should consider a truck. But if all you would haul around is a bucket of air, then maybe a car would be the best value for the money. But if you like the unique driving style of the Jeep and driving off-road, then perhaps the Liberty...

    RB1 and RB4

1.RB1 can't play CD while navigating (unless you have remote CD changer) RB4 has no mapping capability. 2.Make sure you're in the right state. spell street. enter #s. confirm selection. or, simply follow the instructions. It's easier than it sounds. Both are excellent and share the same...

    Adding a vent

Some of you may recall the old days when cars had vents -- wind wings, floor vents and vent positions in the heater controls. One by one they have disappeared. Now, if you want any (windows-up) airflow, you turn on the fan. This is OK, but it causes premature fan bearing failure, resister...

    TPMS Question.....

This must be almost too dumb to ask, but what did those DC "tech-related" mechanics at the local dealership tell you?

    TPMS Question.....

TPMS I think the "advanced" TPMS is an entirely different system (similar to the previous system). You need to have an overhead console (EVIC) with the TPMS capability (not programmable). That system uses different sensors, mounted in the tires. You can make the conversion, but it will cost...

HOW TO: modify your A/C heater control

This mod will let you use the full range of your heater control without having to continuously run the fan motor. This conserves the fan motor bearings and electrical draw, while allowing a temperature controlled, fresh air flow through the cabin. Air flow will naturally depend on vehicle...
