Here is the rest of what he posted on the 2010 KK 3.7
Some of this was confused because his son was the go between on the information.
One of my first theories was the shop swapped in a bad head but supposedly they didn’t swap the head. I did mention to him the compression they shop claims is...
This question is for a friend on a XJ board. His son has a 2010 Liberty (KK) with a 3.7, it has under 100k milage, in the last 10 months he drove it all over the country. Apparently he had a bad head gasket replaced under warranty. A week later the Jeep is back in the shop this time the shop...
Yeah. Those pans are a pain. The gasket used is tough to get lose from the pan, gasket itself bolts to about the point of the oil pick up. Some KJ owners have said they lowered or unbolted the suspension, I dunno how well this works. On the XK (commander) there is too much crap in the way it...
I’d think it would just tap back into place but I never reinstalled it it was a autopsy of the old engine to see why it was oil gunked to death.
Maybe somebody has a timing job write up with instructions on this.

It should be called access hole plug in mopar catalogues.
Maybe part # 53021031 but I’m in my smart phone and can’t do a good cross reference.

You can run a engine belt less for a few minutes, you are basically watching the temperature. Some mud boggers and other racers don’t use a radiator because they only have the engine on long enough to complete a run.
the little plug in the motor I disassembled I just pried it out with a very...
I’ve seen a few pictures that claim to be the same part number with 3RD, I think it’s just a casting revision or something .
Far as fit goes 2001-2012 the 3.7 block and heads interchange.
Only things you have to look out for is the reluctor on the right side (with the Camshaft sensor) is a...
Wild guess given your list of replaced parts, what about thermostat? These engines pretty much only like mopar for thermostat.
Unless the deck was warped the heads and gaskets should be good. Maybe try swapping the old radiator cap.
Other than the obvious engine mixture running lean and...
I’ve been seriously impressed with how well KJs protect their passengers, my nephew is crazy about our old XJ but we are thinking about a kJ if he is still jeep crazy in a few years when he’s old enough to drive.

Unfortunately when anyone attempts to monetize a site it opens the door to hijackware. So much content comes in its hard to filter it, legit sources get and send malware ridden code that doesn’t trigger in current scans and only responds to certain OS. Google Adsense allows admins to edit which...
I’ve used some of the upper end sylvania, don’t know if it was ZXE because they changed the name (extra vision?) and how they market it.
It supposed to be the brightest with best illumination Sylvania makes.
Well the difference between the regular bulbs and the ZXE was noticeable. Down side is...
I’ve never owned one, the ones I’ve seen were needlessly complex and everything was in the way for simple jobs. Maybe it’s a difference in years? Or I’m thinking of the wrong model.
Other Subaru’s were easy to work on.

Woah working on a WRX, what a nightmare. Seriously cool car but no space to work and some maintenance like clutch you might as well drop the engine and trans. Designed to be put together on the assembly line not worked on by Shadetree mechanics or anybody really.
That p0420 code, I don’t think...
Like everyone has said the head gaskets shouldn’t be an issue unless it overheats, as it is for all modern cars with aluminum cylinder heads. Along with the other maintenance I’d try to make sure the cooling system is good. I don’t know if there’s common issues that can be addressed early on...
Glad to help! I agree the people here are some of the best online. I first came here with a Commander with a 3.7 engine crud/sluge problem, asked around several jeep forums before figuring out the KJ has the same engine, this was the place with all the answers. It is a great community.
Out of...
Sounds like the timing is off.
I believe the right head has the cam position sensor, two things I think of with those code is the timing is slightly off, the other thing I wonder about is what year the head was for. The cam gear has a reluctor the sensor reads which changed about 2005 when...
Crown also uses mopar part numbers, which help confuse it.
The higher price is probably the mopar surtax. Crown can be very good parts too.
