I live in Plymouth, MN a western suburb of Minneapolis. If anyone knows a decent mechanic that won’t just blow me off and actually might know what they’re doing especially as it relates to the PCM and sensors and related wiring for a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD please let me know.
I’m at a loss. I don’t know where the sensors are located in order to test them. I wouldn’t know how to test them even if I could find them. Also, I tried to take out the PCM to send it in to get it tested and possibly repaired (if it’s bad) but I took out two screws and it’s not coming out...
Alf, But it doesn’t start when it’s cold or hot now. It started out that it wouldn’t start when hot, but then after a month or so it stopped starting at all.
Think I should get it repaired or just buy a new one and have the new one programmed with my VIN number? It appears that repairing it would be about $225 and also purchasing a new one would be about the same money. What are your thoughts?
OK, here’s what the mechanic said: “the PCM is shorting out after it has a heat cycle per last diag. I swapped out known good cam and crank sensors and found concern is still present. Load tested the engine harness and found signal and ground both OHM out at 0.2 Tested tone wheel on cam and...

Okay I’m making some progress here. Both the diesel mechanic and the Jeep dealer mechanic said that I need a PCM replacement. But this part is no longer available and the dealership mechanic said they don’t have the proper tools for this since the vehicle is a 2005. So I need advice on 1. Where...
My 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD has had trouble starting. At first, it wouldn't start when hot. It had a P0402 code which is the EGR. The EGR was apparently stuck open. I had the mechanic replace the EGR at the dealership. However, that didn't solve the no hot start issue. Then the mechanic thought...
The engine light code is P0401 which is EGR. Here’s what the dealership said:
“The tech has found the egr does need to be replaced, Is your extended warranty valid? If not the repair is $1676”.
