Replacing front drive shaft, old shaft does not rotate

I would think you'd need to have the front wheels off of the ground to be able to spin the drive shaft with the TC in neutral. Nothing in the front drivetrain disengages; it's all connected.

2005 Jeep Liberty Front Shock/Strut/Coilover Suggestions

A while back someone posted a guide on how to do the front suspension on an '04 using the monroe quickstruts and that person stated you don't need to separate any of the balljoints to change the shock assemblies. Any truth to that? I'll be doing my suspension sometime soon and had planned on...

    2006 Liberty Sport Overhaul

Good thing you posted this. I'm getting ready to swap out the rad in my '05 and was under the assumption you could get those clamps off with pliers. Will this tool work? Hose Clamp Pliers | Princess Auto

    Jeep liberty whine noise

Run the engine without the serpentine belt for a few seconds and see if the noise goes away. That'll at least rule out any of the belt driven accessories.

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

One thing I don't see mentioned anywhere is which engine the OP has. If it's the 2.4L, I think it does have a timing belt. I did just skim through so maybe I missed it.

    Ball Joint Recall

Right. I worded that wrong. Shouldn't have said "regular rotations and alignments". Should have said "MORE FREQUENT rotations and alignments". On my other vehicles which were small front wheel drive cars, I only ever got them aligned with a tire change. So an alignment every few years...

    Ball Joint Recall

I had the wear on insides of front tires problem. Ball joints are fine in my case. From what I gather these jeeps need regular wheel alignments and tire rotations. Probably every year or 2 would be adequate. Never had this problem on any other vehicle I have owned so it must be another "Jeep...

    Gas Mileage?

With my 2005 4x4 3.7l auto with stock sized tires and stock suspension I get ~8mpg all city in the winter, ~13mpg all city in summer, ~21mpg 100% highway in summer w/ ac on. I don't drive mine in the city anymore. It was cheaper to get a small car city commuting.

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Yours is a 2004. From the research I have done today things changed a bit in 2005 with the packages. For example the renegade in 2005 didn't come with the light bar. I think the RME in 2004 came with the leather/cloth seats. In 2005 the RME only came with the cloth only (which is what I...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Assuming I do in fact have trac-lok, I'm guessing the clutches are toast. Worth fixing or no? Will anything bad happen if I don't fix it like the clutches breaking apart and breaking other things?

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Yup, rocky mountain edition seems right. I don't have any rocky mountain badges but a lot of the things I do have come with the rocky mountain. Rear power outlet, sun roof, cloth seats with jeep logo, interior accents (no idea what that is so I'm not sure I have it), painted fenders, trac-lok...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Didn't know that was the renegade hood..cool. I'm more inclined to think I do have a renegade but with no badges and no renegade fenders. My build sheet and registration both say I have a renegade. I'm guessing there is something in the VIN that specifies that?

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

That looks just like the one my friend had. I love that color. I didn't think I had the renegade. I would say mine is a sport with painted fenders and a 160 amp alternator with possible trac-lok. Here is a quick pic.

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

I don't know what trim I have. I was told by the dealer it was limited when I bought it. Insurance place told me it is renegade. Built sheet says renegade. No trim model badges on it what so ever. It has regular painted fenders (no rivets). Jeep is black with factory privacy glass on back...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Roof lights are allowed here. Friend had a 2004 khaki green renegade with roof lights. That was the reason I bought mine, I liked driving hers so much. Does anybody know what the renegade package consists of? My build sheet says mine is a renegade. It seems the only thing I may have from...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

Thanks, I'll make sure the new lube comes with the friction modifier. From what I can tell most do (at leas the lube I saw at the part store did). I plan on going with regular 80w90 in both front and rear. Build sheet also said I have the 160 amp alternator. I was certain I did not have...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7L 4x4 part-time Yesterday I got the build-sheet for my Jeep from the jeep site and it says I should have the trac-lok. I'm sure I do not have the offroad package (no skids, rock rails, etc). Is it possible to have trac-lok without the offroad package? I'm fairly...

    what trim do i have?

My build sheet from that site says mine is a renegade. No renegade badges on it. No faux riveted fender flairs. No tow package. No light bar. I don't think that build sheet is all that accurate. Says mine came with the 160 amp alternator. It didn't. Says I have trak-lock...I don't. I...

Liberty shuts off after hard braking

Have you tried really stomping on the brake pedal when you're not moving? Do that and see if it stalls. Could be something with the brake booster.
