It should have the Sentry anti-theft system factory installed. I believe it was standard on all models in '06.
Try this.
Roll down the drivers window. Lock the vehicle with the key fob. Watch the light on the dash. It will start blinking fast. Once it starts blinking slow, unlock the door...
When I took my KJ in for an alignment after lifting it, the guy who owned the shop acted like I was on crack. He said he thought my KJ was extremely tipsy and complained about dialing in the alignment.
I don't care. I'm happy with it. That's all that matters.
Timing chain tensioners. I'll bet it quiets down as it warms up.
Sounds like you're power steering pump is also making some noise too. Probably from air in the system.
While I'm sure both styles are about the same in strenght, the LCA's on the new KJ's look like some cob-job after thought.
I'm sure Jeep changed styles just a save a penny. Everything on my '06 seems cheesier than on my early '03.
I had a 2.8L V6 in an old Bronco II, and a 170 cu.in. straight six in my '66 Bronco. Both engines used solid lifters. YOU'RE RIGHT. Those babies like to chatter. Competely normal though.
Ahhhhh...the days of manual valve lash adjustments and carburetors. Them were the days. lol
Has anybody else noticed that when the weather turns cold, the timing chains/adjusters get noisier?
During the summer months when I start my Jeep, the timing chains make no noise at all. During the winter, when the temperatures dip down, they start to get a little noisy at start-up. Once the...
I don't believe there is supposed to be a nut there. It's the way that style fastener is designed. The breather tube for the front axle is the same way.
I've always said the only difference between a new vehicle and a used one is the warranty. If it's new and it breaks, they fix it. If it's used and it breaks, you fix it.
I've seen some pretty screwed up engineering over the years, but you would think they could get a dipstick right.
This...
Most likely culprit of a leaky valve cover was a bad installation, or possibly a bad PCV valve. A bad PCV valve can cause excess pressure in the crankcase and cause gaskets and seals to leak.
How said is this? People pay $25,000+ for a new Liberty and the manufacture can't even get the damn dipstick right.
It's pretty scary actually. If they can't get a simple dipstick right, then what else on the vehicle is questionable?
I have NEVER owned, or worked on, a vehicle where the dipstick didn't read correctly. I guess I must be lucky.
When I put 5 quarts w/filter in either of our Liberty's it always reads EXACTLY at the top of the safe mark. If I were running as high as some of you other guys, I would be...
I've read that overfilling the crankcase can cause the oil in the pan to come in contact with the crankshaft and cause excessive foaming/airation, thus causing the engine to actually lose oil pressure. I'm not sure how true this is since I've never had it happen.
